Hi,
Does anyone know about FM Modular Band Expanders for Imports REX\'s? I have just got a Jap RX7 with a Jap Radio (up to 88FM only). I have just purchased a new British Sony CD Radio Head Unit and the sales guy said I need an expander. But I thought the expander was only needed if you were actualy using a Jap radio? Does anyone know If I\'m gonna need an expanded or not, and is there any truth in the following statement?!?...
With an epander fitted "the frequency on the screen will be different to the frequency that you are actually listening to as the device is changing the input frequency to one that the radio can receive..".
Thanks :)
you can get one from here (http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/focus.php3?partno=CCSBEUK) dude :)

p.s. he\'s right in what he says, the jap wave expander just searchs a set range which misses a lot of our rubbish.. err I mean "popular" radio stations off ;)
You do not need an expander if you are buying a UK radio, if he says you need an expander, either the radio is not a UK one or he is bulsh***ng you.
oh yeah crap yer right, keep thinking I have a bloomin UK radio for some reason haha
sorry eyedee
Hello!
No problem, and cheers for the info. I got home and plugged the Sony in, and it works perfectly. Funny thing is there are two Radio Antenna Plugs, one small and one large. The large fits nicely in the UK Sony (as it did in the JAP headunit) and works A-OK. So whats the littleun for? Strange!
cheers :D
hehe glad it works dude, small ones probably for jap connections ;)

I think you\'ll find that the large connector is for FM and the smaller one for AM. It\'s only the FM that really requires a "proper" ariel though as you can pickup AM signals with almost anything.
