Well on Saturday I managed to blow the engine AGAIN!!!!! Felt like a tip gone, I\'ll get it back to Dorset and investigations will begin.
Hit 1.3BAR (off a 9PSI wastgate Spring!!!)
things to investigate:
a) why is the dash unit only ever showing me max boost levels of circa 10PSI? And does this mean the ECU thinks I\'m only at 10PSI and fueling accordingly?
b) Why is the wastegate open and I\'m still geeting massive boost build up?
c) Are the various pressure sensors working properly?
d) Is the boost cut set up and if so for what boost pressure?
So last time I\'d installed the boost controller wrong and the engine went pop, this time I hit a boost level which shouldn\'t have been possible and pop!
I love rotaries! :Giggle
sorry to hear bad news Brett

:yes lol :flamed
It didn\'t sound too clever, but the overboost thing is a real worry :eek
ha ha ha ha - love the brett/mark thing - we all know they are close :D
didnt realise you blew it again mark - really sorry to hear that :(
Oh man your not having a lot of luck with it recently are you? Hope you sort the boosting issue out asap.
what wastegate you running Mark?
turbosmart 48mm
so no problems there, I ran that quite effectivly on my old TO4z setup
Damn.. can\'t believe it.
I presume you\'re using the built in MAP sensor on the Microtech itself? Might be worth connecting the vac line to the M\'tech up to a pump or compressor, then use a boost/pressure gauge in the line and, as you say, make sure the Microtech is seeing 10psi+... I don\'t think the failure rate on them is that high, but you never know til you check! Also could be picking up a dodgy vac/boost source from the UIM, I was told only to use a specific set of nipples (although I cant remember which ones now, sorry!), but of course Tim would know that..
