Title: What type of wheel bearings on the rear of an FD?
Post by: lockwood77 on November 03, 2008, 12:14:18 PM
Checked my rear wheels for play yesterday, there is slight movement when the wheels are pulled/pushed hard, but it\'s the same both sides and my old man reckons that depending on the type of bearing, there will be some movement (I forget what type he said!)

Anyone know the answer? Is it normal to have a small amount of movement (it didn\'t feel like a "loose" kind of movement, if you know what I mean)?

There should be no movement in your wheel bearings. If there was it would be pretty noisey. I suspect your pillowball bushes are worn, jack up the body till a wheel is of the ground then lift the wheel up and down. If there is movement get someone to look at which one has play. Worth a look anyway.
