everyone says how big a no no it is to get a de-cat without getting it remapped accordingly as it will cause the engine to over boost....what if you just get a boost controller, will that not keep the boost in check? like i said its probably a really thick question but i think my cat has given up on life and i just cant afford 500+ quid for a pfc and remapping session
cheers in advance :WaveBye
A boost controller won\'t be able to control boost creep that may occur - search for boost creep and all should be revealed :)
spankoo very much :) time to get saving my pocket monies then!! lol
Boost creep will happen as the turbo will find it easier to spool and spin up, just be careful lol boost creep causes engines to go pop
the boost will increase (spike) so quickly that the boost controller won\'t be able to reduce it quickly enough.
There isn\'t really a way to avoid this, even with a remap. You\'d be better off getting a high flow cat, but you\'d probably still need a bit of mapping with one of those.

That\'s a boost spike :)
Creep is where it rises over time due to not being able to expel enough gas through the wastegate :)

i never knew that. learn something everyday.
will still get proper boost spikes though.
iv just got a straight throw mid pipe for mine to replace the silenced mid pipe that is rattling like a pig and they say thats a no no, o well see what happens, if it goes pop at least ive the winter to rebuild it lol
so would my filters and catback be the reason its developing an over boost? or boost creep...and popping alot for the first 10 minutes of driving it from cold?
Without a pfc, i would certainly say so fella.
