Title: Quick ECU question....
Post by: Kevin on October 29, 2008, 10:18:21 AM
I have a freshly rebuilt FD that has been run in that only has a couple of mods, being apexi filters, cat back exhaust and mild street port.  Running standard boost and no other mods.

It was mapped for safety with powerFC but unfortunately the FC has given up the ghost.  I really dont want to spend any more money on this car so; how detremental would it be to run the car on the standard 8-bit ecu that originally come with it??

Would it be fine or would it not?

I wouldn\'t risk it.  If she runs lean then the expense will be far greater.

It would not, mate.

If you have to drive it dont go giving it full throttle on the standard ecu as it will likely boost spike/creep and cause a whole lot more damage.

If you have just spent ££££ getting it rebuilt what would you rather loose that same few grand or splash out another £600-700 on a second hand pfc and mapping.
