Title: Freezing locks
Post by: TiddlesRX7 on October 29, 2008, 08:01:19 AM
Does anyone else have the problem of the locks freezing on their FC? Mine seems to every time it gets cold. This morning I had to give it mouth to mouth just to get the key in! Even then it was still a bit hard to open the door.

I always found before a freezing nightjust to spray a bit of wd40 with a bit of Deicer into lock

WD40 or some 3-in-1 oil - don\'t use a kettle full of hot water - it will just refreeze.

Also those alcohol sprays don\'t really work - alcohol is water soluble so will just attract moisture - you need a non freezing moisture repellant.

Because it rained before the snow, my door rubbers were frozen together.  Had to be so careful peeling them apart

I have the same problem and wd40 does the trick once in a while. Its a common problem for me. I have coated all my lock workings on the inside of the door with a lightweight grease that will stop them from freezing and I sprayed WD40 into the locks. Not much else you can do.
