Title: Will This Be Ok To Use On My FC?
Post by: Retro_Boy_G on October 28, 2008, 09:47:43 AM
One of my tyres burst somehow on Thursday night and i need to take it down to get a new one or repaired. I\'m looking to buy some axle stands and trolley jack so i can take the wheel off the car and also so i can paint the callipers. I\'m just wondering if this kit would be safe enough for me to use? I\'m not really sure on the weight of the car to be honest.. This kit takes up to 2 tonne. I would imagine i would never need to leave it on the axle stand for anymore than 24hrs to let the paint dry..

Any help would be appreciated. :)

RAC were doing a kit like the Halfords one for about the money you\'d pay for the 2 Argos items.

Could also look at Screwfix - they sometimes have offers on.

I need them tonight.. I\'m off tomorrow and me and my brother are taking the tyre in tomorrow morning. I\'ve also got a new arcade machine coming and i need to be able to move the car out the garage to fit it in.. You will all be super jealous when you see the new machine!.. :)

No No it\'s not old skool at all.. I\'m more into my Jap Candy Cabs and not the ones you would be used to seeing in the arcade as a kid.. I\'ve already got a few machines.. to be honest i\'m only holding this for a mate while he builds his new garage.. all i can say is it is a twin driver cab and sounds a bit like Enishal Dee Free.. :)

the jacking points are quite easy to spot, normally there is a small indentation where the scissor jack would go or download the service manual as it has diagrams where they are

Well, Argos had ran out of trolley jacks by time i got there.. So after work i popped into Halfords and bought a Jack for £22.99 and Axle Stands for £12.99.. had to then go back this morning as it turns out my RX7 doesn\'t have the wrench to get the nuts off.. got the wheel off today (my first time ever taking a wheel off! haha). Took it to National Tyres and they found out that it was the valve had snapped.. :( They sorted it out free of charge and said when i get a replacement one (the one i had on it sat at a 90 degree angle and was metal) ive to take it back and they will fit it. Now ive had a taste of lifting my car i feel like i want to try some stuff.. starting with caliper paint! :).. Just hope i was lifting it at the right bit..

Its even easier as there is a small arrow on the spats where you should jack lol
