Title: fd suspension bottoming out
Post by: cyman on October 26, 2008, 08:08:24 PM
i have a set of rz suspension fitted all round (the red shocks) and find the ride very good for the road however all four corners bottom out and rub on the arch plastics. this only happens if i go into a dip or load the suspension up at speed. i originaly thought the wheels might be out of alignment causing problems but this has been setup now and it still does it.the car is generally very controled and not wallowy or bouncy.
however yesterday i replaced my front pads and noticed that i have no bump stops left at all on any of the shocks.

is this purely down to the bump stops not being there or is it more likely the shocks are gone or the springs have gotten tired and dropped.

any ideas

si

What size tyres are you running?
If the profile is too high for the width, and you are therefore running too large a rolling radius, that could cause issues. Whereabouts on the liner are you rubbing?

i had this prob with old standard suspension, saggy old springs and dampers, got new ones, thought it was anti roll bars or something bent but it was just the dampers. are they high mileage? if so new ones is your best bet if on standard sizes

i am running standard 16" wheels with standard tyre size. the rz suspension came of a car that had covered around 60k as far as i am aware. i was thinking maybe its just very tired. the thing is i want a fairly nice road setup thats good enough to tack on occasional track days.
