on my way to a mates to sort a few things for mot, came off a roundabout and thought it was just a slight slide in the wet till i realised i couldnt control it and it went wild and ended up on the centre grass divider. was honestly only doin about 35 and it was a goodyear F1 that blew out. the roundaabout is at the top of the first pic where that silver car is coming into view. so i got a few good spins in lol

To be honest that could have been much worse. At triple figure speeds etc you might not have been posting this.
Hope you get it fixed up soon mate.
Mate that was a lucky escape, glad to hear no one was hurt, has it done much damage?
only the wheel which is now a plant pot lol, my mate has a pit at his so we had a good look round underneath and there is no suspension or steering damage, but his dad is going to have anoth look just to make sure. its a real pain in the hole cuz a load of nice parts ive ordered are now for sale so i can get a replacement rear or a new set of nice wheels.
How old was the tyre ? They degrade with age. Best check all tyres for any cracking / aging !
Shaun
Seems a weird "blowout" looking at the last pic... was it seated correctly?

Thjat\'s what i was thinking - it looks like the bead has popped off the rim rather than the tyre blown out?
Glad you\'re ok dude, could have been nasty.
tyres only have about 1500 miles max on them, its not driven often but im really obsessive about tyre pressure, oil, fluids, all that. guess its just one of those things!
yeah, someone else said that about how the tyre ended up. im sure someone will have a better idea from looking at it
Is there any white/black powder on the inside of the tyre?
Any ripples on the sidewall?
Any visible tears on the tyre?
the tyre is still as is is in the pic mate, ill be taking it off tomorrow and having a proper look. what would the powder indicate? i dont know much about tyres to be honest.
That\'s nasty to look at, dude, but good that you\'re ok and the car isn\'t totally fubar. I wrote off my last one following a spin (or two, lol) on Goodyear F1s. Never really found out why, whether it was the wet, the tyres, the second turbo switchover, or a combination of all three. Three of the tyres were flat afterwards, and one wheel had shattered, so it was hard to tell if any had blown to cause the accident. The copper who turned up suggested it mighta been, but it\'s just as likely to have been my crap driving tbh! I\'ve not used Goodyears since, mind you :D...just in case!
Powdery stuff indicates low pressure usually - i.e. you had a flat beforehand, didn\'t realise, the tyre went down, stressed the sidewall, and blew.
That doesn\'t really look like it\'s \'blown\' though - looks like the beads popped off the lip, that\'s what\'s confusing me - I\'m wondering if the tyre fitter may have ****ed up...
I had new rubber on mine recently, Michelins, one was fine and the other had a huge lump in the bead. That got sent back straight away by my tyre guy as it could pop off. If yours was similar and still fitted, it could be the tyre at fault.
Whilst I deplore "compensation culture", if it is down to a manufacturing fault you\'d surely have a decent case for recovering the cost of the damage. Good thing you took pics if so.
nik - ive read many of your posts and it does seem that dont have much luck with these motors lol! im more glad that it was quiet at that time as theres a school playing field near there
sih/ash - thats why i want a few more people to look at the tyre and the wheel itself. beads and all that i know nothing but have friends that do. i took loads of pics. so not ruling out contacting goodyear or the place that fitted the tyres. id be happy with a replacement tyre from goodyear though, if it was a fault on their end. the tyrefitting place might be different tho
Haha, yeah, I\'ve always been lucky. Sorry about all the rubbish posts you\'ve had to wade through :Giggle!
I guess you may just get Goodyear to admit a liability if someone professionally examines the tyre and can categorically say "yes, the bead gave way and caused the tyre to come unseated" or "yes, it de-laminated" or similar, but it does seem a long shot. I think you\'d have a cats chance in hell of getting the tyre fitters to admit they dropped a b0ll0ck, though
It does look strange in that photo, though, but I guess there\'s an argument to say there could have been a compression blowout caused by hitting a kerb or whatever whilst spinning, and the lateral forces subsequent to that have pulled the tyre off the rim. Not trying to be negative, just trying to be realistic, and unfortunately we live in a day and age where a company would do anything and blame anything rather than admit liability for something like this.
oh i doubt ill even bother about the fitters, as that will get nowhere and i could end up wearing the tyre lol! but yeah, itll get looked at and see from there. so many \'could have beens\' although it may have been a sign that i should buy the work wheels ive been eyeing up for a while lol!
I\'ve got two F1\'s of a set of four on my garage roof having suffered a similar problem years ago just after they came out. Couldn\'t get them for love or money at one time, the police wanted them on their Volvo\'s apparently and Goodyear couldn\'t supply enough. They look great and handle well enough but expensive lesson to learn
Just a small note to say that once you\'ve got a new tyre on that you really ought to get the geometry checked. I know you said it looked alright by eye but i severely doubt you can put a car like a Rex with its multi-adjustable rear end up a kerb sideways (breaking a wheel) without affecting something. Not just for safety\'s sake: I think you\'ll find it will drive a lot better anyway as they all go a little out of true over time.
I used Wheels-in-Motion, they were excellent. There\'s a recent thread somewhere in the \'wheels, tyres\' thingy\' section.

I would totally agree after seeing the damage to the wheel.
It could have been a far worse outcome though.
yep that will get done when i decide what wheels i want to get. fancy getting new wheels all round anyway.
new bushings were on the agenda prior to this hiccup anyway so itll be properly looked at and anything that needs replaced will get done. when i said i looked at it, it was more of a \'make sure nothing is fully mangled lol
I had a cracker last xmas...rear tyre blew out rather spectacularly...youre ally havent lived until you\'ve went up the motorway completely arse-out sideyways!! :driving :driving
worth while getting your geomitry checked..... I had a sliding insident due to a patch of oil which resulted in a bent wheel and the rear end needing in another alignment session :(
