Title: proof of rebuild?
Post by: pearl_rex on October 21, 2008, 12:49:50 PM
right guys im trying to sell my rex as ive ran out of work!! - dont worry as ill be getting my grubby mitts on another as soon as work picks up again!!!

having a hell of a lot of trouble as i havent got any proof of a rebuild! the car has 140,000kms on the clock so im guessing that alone indicates that its had a build at some point in its life?! it starts straight away hot and cold, never over heats, doesnt lose any fluids but thats not good enough for some people! is there any way i can actually prove that the engine is healthy and isnt going to go bang when they\'re driving it home?? please any help would be great!! :wiggle

grr the thought of letting her go is killing me!!!!

get her compression tested mate by someone who know how to do this on rotaries.  I think take her down to re-worx.  :driving

what sort of price am i going to be looking at to get it tested? will that give un-questionable proof as to weather or not its been rebuilt? or just a rough idea on how healthy the engine is? (sorry if these are noob questions!!)

thanks for the reply doode :)

sorry to add this in by edit...

can anyone give me a rough idea as to what sort of money i should be asking for her as i really havent got a clue!??

no proof of rebuild but it does give you an indication that how sound the engine is.  Not sure how much they charge though.

Depends on the specialist, but between 20 and 50 quid for a compression test.

Great results would be 8s on both front and rear rotors, but anything in the 7s is healthy. More important that the figures are even ie 7.2 7.5 7.5 is better than 8.2 8.4 6.9

As for price, it\'s a buyers market so whatever someone is willing to pay. Chassis mileage is quite high so I\'d say between 4k and 6k.

so who did rebuild it??  and when??

if its one of the tuners over here they may be able to help you out with providing some sort of proof

thats the problem im not sure who built it :( but ive recently changed the turbo\'s and there were all new gaskets on the turbo\'s and inlet components, even the rats nest looks like its all new and theres brand new nutts holding some of the rats nest components which all leads me to think that it has deffo been done. i was stupid and too excited about getting in the car and driving off to ask important questions like that LOL...my age showing through abit there :)

Hi, its Ben from lindop motorsport, were currently doing free compression test\'s for this month and next if any one wants to pop down for a test,we can also do a print out for you to prove your engines health (also available in graph form) we are located in the chester area, opening times are 8:30 till 5:30

might be worth ringing around the major rotary tuners in the UK Give them the reg as they would probably have it on record for invoice & TAX perposes.

WGT
Rotary Solutions
Rotechnics
Dragon
RE:Works
etc.

Probably only be about 8 phone calls!
