Post by: dino on March 28, 2004, 10:45:38 AM
Hi all my exhaust pops like a biatch it does sound good but it smells rich when it does is this usual or is my car running too rich and need adjusting. I need best economy pos. i knew consumption was high but 60miles from £25 worth!! Mind you was 1st day back after a new clutch and the 1st time i have been able to drive it properly so maybe to do with it also :D . Seriously tho is the popping a good thing?

What mods? and when is it happening?

If midpipe, ECU and after coming off the throttle it is fine.

I got about 120 miles on £25 for a resonable drive the other day. Obviously if you\'re driving the car hard then it\'s going to be much lower.

The popping is pretty par for the course on rx7\'s from what I understand. Mine is standard bar a cat back exhaust and it still pops and bangs all the time, especially when it\'s cold. It keeps setting off my neighbours car alarm every time I reverse into my parking bay!

LOL

The only mod it\'s got is a mazdaspeed exhaust. i don\'t know if it\'s jus a backbox or a system but must be fine then.

I\'ve only got a Racing Beat cat-back and mine does the same as peace2make\'s - seems like you can relax and enjoy it :D

Cheers,
Alex

How did you manage that?
What year is your rex? Wot mods u got on it? Do you drive in town at all?

I\'m getting LESS than 8mpg consistantly. Pure town driving though.
thanx M.

LOL - That\'ll be the town driving. I live in London so I know the feeling... Mine is standard bar the back box but still isn\'t great round town either.

My 120 miles for £25 run was from London up to Norfolk. Mainly A and B roads and the M11 but with about an hour in stop/start traffic. Still not bad for a combined run though.

I could be wrong, but you might want to take you car on some decent runs. I got the impression that lots of slow speed town driving isn\'t very good for rotaries anyway.
