Post by: chrisJDM on October 19, 2008, 01:04:51 PM
I am trying to remove my dash to flock it, ive removed all of the little bits and pieces and just have the main dash left to take out, the problem is its screwed in from the back (nice one mazda that was a bright idea) i have loads of screwdrivers and ratchets and also angled screwdrivers for getting in tight places and cant get any of them in to get the screws out, theres only about 5 left to get out.  Anyone got any ideas??? :Thumbsup!

ok so i was being a muppet, i didnt realise that the whole metal frame came out with it i thought the plastic skin would come off. Well i managed to get it out, getting all the wiring through was a pain and also trying to manouver the dash out of the passenger side but i got there eventually :D

heres some piccies if you have eva wondered what your rx7 would look like without a dash

it wasant too bad in the end really one of those when you know how to do it its easy jobs but its just working out how to do it the first time.  I assume that bar has has to go back in, would be interesting to find out what bits i can get rid of to save a little weight :Thumbs-up

its pretty heavy, i will weigh it for you rob and let you know, its over at my parents house so might not be able ot do it for a couple days.

ive had the air con removed from the engine by RX motors so i dont know if they would have removed anything from the dash aswell, i wouldnt have thought so.  Also would like to know if i can get rid of that clarion box as i have no idea what it does, ive had a Alpine head unit in there since buying the car, looks like the clarion box is something standard thou as it connects in with all the other wiring and has its own brackets.

no doubt they would`nt have removed it bud, the big box behind the glovebox, if you undo the clips and screws the whole bottom section pops og and you`ll fine a big core, kinda like an intercooler core in there, that cn go plus anything attached to it, then just re-attach the plastic bottom to seal the unit :)

Yup, 2 screws IIRC to ge tthat off.
Open up, remove all the gubbins inside, disconnect the thermo sensor, and plug up the gaps left, then rip out the rest of the piping from the bay :)
