Title: Help!!
Post by: crazy8 on October 11, 2008, 08:29:03 PM
My wife was out of town and put about a half qt of water in the oil reserve after the car was "running hot" before she stopped at a filling station.

will this evaporate? I\'ve heard of condensation being a "normal problem". it\'s an \'07 212hp 6sp auto. the car had an oil change about 1K mi ago.

I\'ll be inclined to drain and renew, 1/2 qtr is a fair bit of water and will not mix well with mineral crap oil. You wont evaporate that amount of water

at first i was just impressed she noticed the temp...

thanks for the advice. if it\'d been conventional v8 i\'d have had her drive it home- she was about 150 miles away, and thankfully somebody at the gas station noticed the mistake as she was making it.

a divorce would be more expensive than a new engine... i really can\'t believe she did that, but major damage was averted i think.
