Hi guys , i wounder if any of you might be able to help me.
A while ago my FD overheated real bad and i had the coolant light and alarm sounding , anyway cut a long story short i had to have an engine reguild but now that i have the car back , the coolent light is perm on and the coolant alarm is a constant beep , the car is an auto and when i put the car in revrse the beeping stops, but in any other gear the beep just continues.
any ideas what this problem might be or how to fix it?
the car runs fine now and does not overheat or anything like that , but as soon as the key goes in the ignition to start the car the warning light and beeping start :(
thanks in advance
Scott
the warning light should come on till you start the engine. but as to why it stays on and stops buzzing when you go backwards is bizzar!!
Have you got the water topped right up?? could have dropped a little due to an air lock being worked out..... or it could be an air lock & the sensor thinks there is no water??
Jono
what pressure is your rad cap rated? if its 1.3 psi try geting a .9 psi one and see if that solves it.
Check and clean the connection on the small plug on the single wire level sensor mounted at the filler neck, It may have broken away completely/ not be connected or just a bad connection.
Thought the single wire one at the front of the stat housing was for the cooling fans??? the level sensor I think is behind the stat housing?
Jono
Wrong way round Jono! The single wire sensor on the front of the stat housing is the low coolant level sensor, /buzzer,there are two sensors on the back of the stat housing, the one with the single wire is a thermoswitch, and goes direct to number 3 relay and operates the cooling fans, the other sensor at the back (two wires) i think links to ecu,

Stand corrected ;) LOL

Thanks for all the replys guys , as a complete numty when it comes to cars most of that went over my head but at least it sounds like its just a small issue.
Again thanks guys
Scott
Ill re-cap for you, Where you put the water, In the filler neck, in the middle of the engine bay 2-3" below the top you will see a level sensor with a single wire coming from it.
Follow that wire back and make sure its plugged in/is not damaged/good shiny connnections.
This particular plug suffers badly from heat and is normally very brittle if still intact.
Thanks Neil :) i will try that , thanks again for all that replied.
