So i get my car back from the garage today after a remap and 550cc to 850cc injector upgrade and 20 odd miles away from the garage the cars sound changed and was very different! It started sounding like an old muscle car/vw camper all of a sudden, and not boosting at all. It was idling really lumpy as low as 300rpm and then kept cutting out at idle.
After a lot of hassle i have got it sent back to the garage on a truck and the garage reckon the apexi ecu has reset itself!?!?!?
I didnt know an ECU could reset itself when you\'re driving it!?
How could this happen!? :2Confused
which Garage is it?, most tuners would have saved the map for you, I have seen it happen a couple of times, sometimes due to a poor earth
That\'s a bit of a worry, don\'t like the idea of that happening too much. I guess the default map would err on the side of safety, ie richness, at least, so the chances of having horrible detonation cause the map\'s just leaned off massively is slim? Or am I talkin rubbish as usual?
Iv had that same problem 3 times, with 3 different Apexi\'s . Even left my car with pip so he could drive round in it and it did it to him.
I now run a greddy emanage and touch wood its been fine.
ive been told by a few ppl that a basic map on an apexi is generally an erratic idle, runs rich off boost and lean on boost
Super 7 Autos fitted + mapped it for me...
surely if they test drive it properly after mapping it shouldn\'t happen?
was it a live map or roller map? if they didnt save it to the ecu then surley it would revert back to the map before? not entirely sure bout the mapping side of things thats down to the pros but with eny ecu ive allways thought that to reset it you would have to do it via a computer or it would have to be without power for at least 24hrs

thats what i thought!
they dont have a rolling road so its a live/road mapping session if thats what its called?
you can reset the map on the Apexi with a commander or Datalogit/laptop, it holds the map if there is no power
Jason at Super 7 mapped mine too. He uses a laptop to do it, and mine has held the map fine since. Hopefully it\'ll continue to do so!

This has happened to me too. Can\'t understand it loosing the map due to a poor earth, especially if the map is held in the EEPROM. I thought apexi changed the chipset in the new models? Could be a possible fault with new ALL PFC\'s :eek
It was the chip that they where having trouble with.
I was told that the company who used to make the chip went west and the new company was having some sort of trouble manufacturing it. So some batches are fine and others would be useless....
