I\'ve been in that car, lovely. Previous offers had been made at over £20K and declined. Two years ago, prices for these on Japanese auctions were £20-25K. I looked into importing one and stashing it until 2012.

I believe this particular car was imported with a crash-damaged front end and then repaired in the UK. The owner should correct me if this is not true.

I\'d guess its worth £20K+.

Jon.

What a waste of an excellent sportscar,  I would drive it as often as possible, take it to shows and generally pimp it.

you say that, but why mod a 20k car when u could mod a 4-8k car and get the same results, infact better results as you wouldn\'t be required to have a cat :D

It\'s a perfect car to keep standard, looks top :cool

I was always tempted with the stock red 99\'spec car in Worcester but I know I would just have to play with it :2Confused

I wasnt having a dig mate, a good friend of mine had a mint mk2 escort rs that he has done the same with but personally imo I couldnt keep a car like that in storage. I would drive it as its ultra rare and is screaming to be used also i wouldnt mod it  i would drive it exactly as it stands only replacing like for exact like and try to keep it factory fresh.

But store it unused, For what!!!

I really think that the bubble has burst with classic cars, he had offers for his escort for like 15grand early last year, but couldnt sell for 12 this year.

Also there was an rx7 on pistonheads for ages with 7k miles from new.

My opinion anyway:cheers

oops sorry didn\'t mean to come over aggressive at all.

by "pimp it" i thought you were referring to modding it. And imo id rather store a car like that than mod it. Also id just feel so bad driving it.

Cool fella:cheers

I agree in modding a car like that would be an awful thing to do, I mean how could it be beaten from how it left the factory considering how rare they are over here.

Is there even a spirit R model on the forum or (for the real geeks ) a factory SP model???.

Surely the purpose of a car is to move, and especially a pure-bred sportscar, is to move efficiently. A Spirit-R is the ultimate expression of Mazda\'s ultimate street sportscar, and to have one just to be a static display, even to preserve the heritage of such a rare acme of motoring developement, is to prevent it from becoming all that it should be. It should be a visceral and emotive expression of controlled motion, and it can\'t do that standing still. I think anyone owning one would do a disservice to the car not to use it. Maybe not everyday for popping to the shops for a pint of milk, but at least on high days and holidays.

Yes I think there are a couple on the forum; I believe "Andrewrx7" had his immaculate Spirit-R used by Mazda themselves for display on their Motorshow stand this year

Anyway, Spirit-Rs are surely quite common and passe compared to real rare Rx-7 variants? Now, if you could get hold of an M2-1020, that would be a special edition worthy of a museum place....

Gotta agree with that, especially as I swore the RX-4 would not be a trailer queen,
