Post by: scooby_si on March 26, 2004, 10:35:45 PM
Any ideas &/or cunning plans for suspension, coilovers platforms etc etc (i dont actually know what the hell i\'m talking about but i can blag it lmao) so anything particularly good for a FD basically i\'m looking for good & fully adjustable or at the very least height adjustable suspension for all 4 corners....
Hit me with hints & tips & good places to buy from please folks...?

I don\'t know what the situation is with FD\'s but with my mates rally cars Bilstein always seem to get nothing but good things said about them.

I have Tokico dampers on my 1st gen and both 323\'s and they are pretty good too (especially as the 323 ones were $150 for 4!!)  ... again I can\'t comment on the FD though.

I have Ohlins coil over\'s on mine. Fantastic for handling as its sitting quite low but not exactly smooth over the bumps!! Well it not exactly smooth over a pebble to be precise but the handling is awesome......

yeah mine was lower than a snakes thingamy  i always said i used to avoid pot holes in the scoob but have to avoid the cat eyes in the 7 :D lol
Hmm Bilstein sounds cunning (Be afraid Si is engaging retard mode....) what\'s the SP with different options on the different models with adjustability with both ride height & dampness etc?
Also can anyone educate an otherwise vastly intellectual type on what all the bits refer to coilovers are always mentioned & a friend was using the term platforms & another struts all explained & i almost understood which was wot but er anyone got it in writing so when i next kill a few more brain cells i have sumin to refer to......;)

also do they all still lower the car even when at the highest setting as such? As it was mentioned to me HSK adjustable variety is still pretty low & hard even when on least setting?

I got Tein on mine. Seems a lot of the Japs use it.

I\'d recommend it from a ride perspective, plus it\'s green and comes with a wrench, what more could you want!!?! :rollin

Not having much joy finding at least height adjustable variety for FD at the minute, is this specific to the coilovers? (an FAQ explain to the idiot the different bits sites would be good also...) surely someone sells such goodies which can fit the 7?

ref Tein found this (http://www.tein.co.uk/detail/fd3sdetail.html#fd3sra) which shows models available for FD now aside the potential problems of getting hold of any of em..........Anyone more knowledgeable able to better translate the spring rates etc & what it means by the adjustment settins eg if it lowers it by 30mm at front but has adjustment range of 20 to -70 does this mean it can vary (compared with standard) from 10mm to 100mm lower or did i totally misinterpret that?)
Also comments like "Space is not Enough" & "Need to modify Eg food, and back interior" any ideas what this might entail given it\'s listing the wee boogers as FD suitable.....? as it looks like "super street damper" is only one which is straight fit & adjustable....
Any experiances of these models or knowledge please folks?
Si (yes i\'m emailing \'em but not holding me breath.....)

doh rereading i guess the min is well the minimum adjustment compared with standard & max the max as the figure it quotes as how much it lowers it by seems in the middle of the 2....
Still NEED supplier(s) thou

If ya don\'t mind shopping in the USA i\'ve found that the rx7 store (http://www.rx7store.net/subcatmfgprod.asp?0=219&1=282&2=-1)  do them as do rx7trix (http://www.rx7trix.com/store/customer/home.php?cat=115)

Demon Tweeks are now an official supplier of TEIN products. I\'ve just ordered the spring kit from them, should take about 3 weeks to come over from Japan:cool.

Have you talked to Pip?  I\'m sure he\'d be able to give you a run-down of what would suit your needs.
