Title: Removal of Air Pump?
Post by: CharlieP on September 27, 2008, 09:55:45 AM
Hi all....
Please can you tell me if the air pump can be removed from a fairly standard twin set-up?
I\'m planning on removing the cat and having it mapped, and would like to remove the air pump...since from what I know so far it\'s only really for emissions!?

Thanks
 Charlie

correct. the only reason for the air pump is to reduce emissions.
are you doing this to save weight? it could be a problem for you come MOT time if you have to put it back on...

Well yes really....and heard that when it\'s removed popping and banging (from exhaust) is reduced or even cut out?

I know a RX7 friendly MOT place so should be ok on that front
