Title: MOT question
Post by: cyman on September 26, 2008, 09:30:29 AM
ive recently had my car mot\'d and was a bit worried about the emision as its not standard and runs an mapped ecu. i was going to take it to a test station that would be able to change the settings to get it through.

however i enquired at a local\'ish test station to me who by chance had to test a caterham a few days before and remembered that in the same paragraph for the kit car was a statement along the lines of "all kit cars or rotary engined vehicles before 1998 must have a visual check only as per vehicles manu before 1975" now i\'m not sure if this is the exact wording but it is pretty close. so my car got its mot using this test method.

i had never heard of this before has the test station misinterpreted this or have other people got there mota mot\'d this way???

had a quick look and cant find much about it - but have a read of this :

http://www.ukmot.com/6-4.asp

or then there is this

QuoteWankel rotary engined vehicles first used before 1st August 1987 then the car is treated as "first used before 1st August 1975".
