All the fuse boxes i think. I guess its a matter of extending the cables and putting them in tucked away places

This is one of Dragons show cars. Just to give you an idea.

See that Demo car last at Trax 2 years ago maybe 3
was up for sale, I thought it was a sweet looking Demo car, certainly caught the eye, wonder what ever came of it.

Yeh its was up for about £13-15k for ages then disappeared. Insidently the wheels on that car were the very set that were on Gurj\'s last matt black rx. They still advertised it with them though which i found a little strage
Dont know if it sold or Dragon still have it. I loved it and if i had the money would of got it. :)

It was a lovely car. I built it from standard so know it, inside out. It was 99 spec and rellay tight. I advertised it for a while, then one sad day a lad came and picked it up, and I havent heard form him since then! Which i find bizarre.
The fuse and relay boxes were heavily simplyfied and and relocated around the car, inside the front wings and headlight. ABS etc all gone, and ignition amps, linelock etc added.
Its harder to do with a TT. But were doing a simplyfied single at the moment, and i want to go really crazy with that one, fullshow car, with as clean as possible look inside. Also gonna be pink aswell :)

im on single turbo so any help would be great ross.

did you retain the fuse boxes or just simply the wiring and do away with the big chunky ugly looking things.

is there any thing else in the wiring loom etc i can take out.

cheers

Depends how far you want to go. I would recommend going through the fuse and relay boxes and remove anything not needed. Then you can merge them into one box, or try to minimalise the boxes. You can relocate lots into the interiour if you want. The wire runs are made much shorter if you do this.
I have often put all the fuses into the large Main relay fuse box, and then its much easier to hide, the easiest place to put this under the nearside sleek headlight, then face it back into the engine bay for maintenance.

ok thanks for that, when i get motivated to get back into the garage i will have a look at them and go from there.

ive also been thinking about making some form of cover out of CF to hide a few other things such as brake servo etc etc

we will see.

thanks

i looked at the front relay box, and after taking out the relays i didnt need, i was only left with the horn and TNS. so i have jsut removed them, and used the end of a paperclip to remove the spade connectors from the box for them. the rest i jsut cut and maskered to the loom. havent tried it yet, but cant see anything will go wrong (famous last words!!!)

Hey marco, what did ypou do with the fuel pump relay in the front relay box?
Title: minimal 3rd gen engine bay....
Post by: marco on September 27, 2008, 10:30:57 PM
from looking at the service manual, it isnt the main relay, but infact just switches the voltage down at low load.  so (and it is still work in progress) i am going to take the feed from the main pump relay (which is in the other relay box- i think it is called b2 from memory) and use that to activate a relay that controls a feed direct from the battery to the (aftermarket) fuel pump. it may seem a bit \'round the houses\' but i am guessing that there is a safety feature in the car that will cut power to the fuelpump in the event of a crash. if i were to drive the new fuel pump relay from the ignition, then i would bypass this, and i cant help thinking that continuing to pump fuel after a big crash would be a bad thing....

yes thats right it isnt the fuel pump relay, it just knocks the voltage back for better fuel consumption
Marco I would take the fuel pump realy trigger from teh white and red wire, then it wont keep the power to the pump all the time if you want to leave the ign on for another reason.

ha ha, thats exactly what i am doing whilst we speak. also relocated the main battery supply (have relocated) to the starter motor, this minimising thing is quite addictive.

ross, i am getting nowhere with richard at aquamist regarding the WI setup, i will give you a call in a few days, i think i am at the point where i just have to bite the bullet and see if it works, as no one seems to have the answer!

good stuff guys, i will be doing both :cheers

maybe some more write ups are needed :p  :King

went into the garage yesterday, got the door open and even got to turning the radio on, took one look at and ended up closing the door :( :(

just dont have any motivation at the minute and i have a million and one plans.

to motivate you, here is a pic of part of what i have been doing today, it to allow rapid filling of the WI system.- also finished my WI tank, and once i have cleaned up the wiring done by the cowboy alarm installer i will wire up the WI system (and the wideband if i have the time. have jsut double checked my WI tank- 10 litres, and total stealth install:yes

looks good dude, take it you made it all your self.

what are you using as a tank, the rear screen bottle?? i got a bottle with my kit but im in two minds weather to use it or not.

ha ha, no, as i need a bit more water than that, and the filler wouldnt be in the right place (plus the washer bottle has its own filler cap) i will give you a clue.
did you know that some rx7s came with rear bins rather than seats, and that they are one piece plastic with a lid that could be simply glued on top? did you realise jsut how much water one of them could hold with the lid glued on, that it would be really low to help with C of G, that the aquamist pump can be fitted in the front of the bin and JUST fits so can be hidden from view and would still leave the other (drivers) bin free for storage/ battery relocation.

(yes i am rather proud of myself, jsut have to do one final test fitting to makesure the hose from the filler doesnt foul on the chassis and its good to go. oh an i am goingto fab up some baffles to help with the sloshing. it will be two seconds of a job!)

cool, the filler doesnt look like its in the bin though, more where the tool kit is in the boot?? nice work :D

yeah thats the plan, quick gravitiy feed down, and bigish bore (hose pipe dia) with seperate vent pipe so it will fill quickly. i was going to put a filler on the top of the bin but it would have ben fiddly to get the water in (have bucket seats), so moved it to the tool kit, easy to get to! should get some funny looks filling the tank with water at the garage!
