In addition I am paranoid about rust after owning a couple of British Leyland cars in the past.

Good luck.

Yeah check the arches for rust if a UK car, the UK car i looked at had this :( Just do the usual really, check for crash damage, clutch slip, dodgy knocking etc etc. I\'m guessing Hurley rebuilt the engine, see what warranty you\'ll get with it and whether it\'ll directly transfer to you the buyer. Make sure the car is seen from cold, see how easy it is to start, then try it from warm later on. Difficulty to start could mean the engine has lower than normal compression, which equates to something not right.

Anyway good luck,

Paul:)

P.S. seems a few notherners are buying rexs, is all good:cool, i\'m orginally from Bingley:D

& i\'ll resist saying too much about Hurley but chances are they will be less than generous with any warrenty but you never know.....;) & presuming rebuild was done a while back any issues (as per a few comments on FDUK) wont be too bad & should be sweet but i\'d wana full check it was all pucker....
Si (paranoid! dont worry too much but as with any purchase if in doubt....:D)

was the engine warm when you went to view? Just i wouldnt of fort the coolant would get that hot from 5 minutes idol & he may of warmed her up so you didnt see any cold start things, maybe me being sceptical, but sound nicely warmed up from description of the coolant cap removal, not supposed to remove when hot for reasons you\'ve already discovered (description sounds fairly normal to me on a hot coolant cap removal but er i dont know much ;)) & if you do ensure you have a cloth & a pair of fast legs lol but er other than my great heinseight advice on avoiding coolant shower then unless price reflected all you mention i\'d be weary......
Si
PS er cant prove rebuild then anyone could say that.....

the car was up 4 £6500 with recon engine at a garage, the car had been moved into place earlier in the morning but was started from cold. After we had just started it up the fella wanted to put the hood down ????? but we said would like to leave it for a few mins then turned it off ...... then the shower took place and me fathers got cap imprints on his fingers lol rather him than me and the fella would take £6000 for cash........ so we made a swift exit leaving coolan splaterd all over the car:rollin
