I have just bought a new rex and it is a uk motor but what i wanted to know is if it is ok to run it on normal unleaded opposed to super?
cheers duff
I would imagine if it was built for the UK market it would be ok, but maybe someone else has a more educated opinion
cheers mate for the reply
if its all stock then it should be ok, however most people with uk spec turbo\'s(not rx\'s) still run optimax to be sure. So if thats with a boingy thingy then i\'d still wanna be safe with the rex.
love the car. V.good nick for a uk one especially, maybe one of the best:D

clean looking car ! nice :)
if its a uk spec car the ecu should be mapped already for uk fuel, but i would still run super unleaded i mostly use BPs ultimate in my jap spec rx7 and thats fine.

I was in discussion with the chap selling that before I got mine. If I remember right, I think its had a full rebuild and is modded, with uprated ECU pushing out about 300bhp.
If this is the case, I\'d suggest running it on Omtimax or Super, just to be sure.
Happy driving
Sach
cheers for ur replies i have been runnin it on super but just wanted to make sure thats all cheers for the comments it is a quality motor pretty lucky to find a uk one as well so i\'m really chuffed :rollin
cheers again duff
I have run my UK spec 3rd gen on normal unleaded with no problems, my car is completly stock however.
I use optimax now though as the difference is noticeable.

i normally use Super Plus but had to run last night on Unleaded as had no choice and ran like crap , (mine modified a bit) and was really lumpy and judery:(
well the only reason i ask is because mine is modified it has twin blitz filters car back blitz exhaust with de-cat anda a apexi ecu but i had to pick the car up from london and it ran fine gave it a blast a couple of times :D and it seemed to run fine but i would rather b safe than sorry
cheers duff
Ive been forced to run on normal unleaded once or twice without problems, but i did make a point of keeping off boost as much as possible.
Duff,
How are you getting away with running a DeCat on a 93-> car ?
Catalytic converters are required on 92-> vehicles manufactured in the UK, which will include the RX to my knowledge.
Imported RX7\'s can get a way without a Cat up to 95 (I think).
Also do you know anything about your apexi ecu ? I was looking at putting one on mine however I understand that it wont plug straight in and work because of the differences between the Jap and UK spec cars. From what I understand some modifications are required (ie pins need to be cut out of ecu, or wiring harness needs to be changed) similar to what you have to do to a US spec RX to plug one in.
Any help you could throw my way would be welcome.
Cheers
Paul
The cat that is removed is the first one. which it will still pass its mot and emissions with like i mentioned it is a blitz nur spec and it sounds like a tornado jet wen ya nail it :D
With the ECU though i\'m not too sure about this because obviously it is a uk car so i wouldn\'t like to say to be honest about modifications however i would recomend one of the theses ECU\'s and the FC commander they are quality peices of kit ;)
cheers duff
Hey Duff!
good to see you enjoying yourself mate
I, most of the time ran that car on bp ultimate and same on me black 1, you will notice the difference. The Shell optimax is ok too.
Im trying to get some fd people together to go to Ace Cafe London tomorrow evenning so it will be nice if you can make it.
Anyone from here going? I will be there with Andy in his white car(prepared by Dragon performance) a very very sweet looking motor.
It all starts at round 6 ish
