Title: Dash Light Help...
Post by: Alison on September 21, 2008, 04:15:23 PM
Just driving along the other day, and noticed it was getting dark. Better put some sidelights on!

The mileage counter disappeared and no dash lights at all!

I had to drive home in the dark not knowing what speed I was doing....good excuse for the coppers I guess...I\'ve been and checked it again today, hoping it was one of those mysterious things that FD\'s have a habit of fixing by themselves, but no....

Anyone got any ideas? Fuse? Loose Wiring? I\'m no good with electrics

Must be the season, i\'ve got it too :(
will post up my findings tomorrow.
Fuse in the footwell - middle row, left hand side is the first port of call, after that, the TNS relay on the slam panel, after that... i\'m stumped... :(

EDIT: Be very wary, chances are you won\'t have any side lights, tail lights, or numberplate lights either!

could be a fuse or a bad earth or water getting into elecs and shorting it

Oh dear!!

I made sure I had lights working before I drove home....that probably means it\'s not going to be the fuse if they\'re on the same one!! :xconfused

I know it sounds silly but have you made sure that the slidy wheel on the left side of the steering wheel is turned to have the lights on? You can them off with that! (i\'ve given myself a similar shock in the past) :Giggle

its not a fuse thing guys its fixed by the dimmer
it controlls all illumination did the same traced it to that pull it out the dash and make sure its lugged in properly its will ping the lights on the dash and make you feel a right C**K lol

If it\'s the outer one it\'s the TNS relay - Blue one in the front fuse box. Sorted my issue.
If it\'s just the internals then yes, it\'s the dimmer.

All sorted now...turned out to be front relay box....full of water.  I thought it would be ok to secure the box under the slam panel but water had got in there:eek:  All dry now and the box sealed with some silicone so hope it will stay dry now.
