Title: Variable Boost
Post by: rx7ben on September 21, 2008, 01:48:44 PM
I have a question that is really buging me.

When i floor it in 1st my boost guage drops from 8psi to 2-4 psi
Then when i floor it in 2nd the same thing happens.

Now when i hit 3rd gear i get a really stedy and strong 8psi reading on the boost guage. Then the same with 4th and 3rd 8psi.

I did have a few problems with a split hose to one of the turbo"s that David at roetecnics fixed.
Then i had another problem with the first turbo, it just wouldnt cut in like i had no 1st turbo. That was allso sorted by David witch turned out to be a tiny tiny clip that goes on (I think this is right) the Achuator.

Now bare in mind this never happens when i floor the car for the first time (obvisley when the car is up to temp) i goes really well and the boost guage reads 8psi.

So could this all be a heat thing as i dont have a vented bonnet. Or could it be the map on my Knightsports ecu.

Could someone please shed some light on this as its doing my head in.

Thanks:confused::confused::confused:

Ben, patience young man, remember its Sunday and not everyone is sitting in front of a computer.

It sounds like a pipe is collapsing.

I havent been able to sort this problem out yet and it seems its going to be quite diffecult to find out what this problem is. So what im thinking of doing is replaceing all the hose"s and the solnoids from witch this problem could be.

So does anybody no where i can get these parts from.

Thanks

sounds like a boost leak , if you get less the 7psi then its a boost leak unless the wastegate is stuck open, check the intercooler rubber couplers for splits

Driveing this morning i notice this problem is happening only when the second turbo comes into play. So does this mean the problem will be around the second turbo or could i still have a problem with the first
