What temperature should a twin turbo gen 3 rx7 run at and is the reading on the apexi controller accurate?
thanks andy :driving
most run at 84 average, may go upto 94 before fans come on.
Water temp? If so depending on how modified your car is and also how you\'ve driven it can vary the reading. Just normal driving on a standard twin would be between 81-85 degrees normally.
thats what i was hoping for, sorry i should of said watertemp, im liking this site more and more everyone seems to answer any questions really quickly its great
Remember to keep an eye on intake temps too - get too hot and you\'re looking at detonation and possible rotor damage. Figures as low as 50 degrees have been bandied around in other threads, but I assume it depends how much margin there is in your map (e.g. if it is pretty rich or not). I am no expert though, so I just try and keep it cool enough!
optimum temps is 85 degress.
where is the water sensor that you are taking that temp from?
just below the thermostate?
85 water and 50 on air is normal for me.
Nice cool nights recently here though, so make that 83 and 32 :)

Yeah the one on the filler neck.
The PFC is fairly accurate....the only thing that seems to be out is the speed. About 10km out. If im doing 110km it reads 100km...not sure how that works but its not critical.
Yea 85c is best temp. Once modified to single and depending on setup the temps are usualy very similar but stay cooler under WOT. Iv seen 77c on open road driving from my FMIC setup. NO anti-freez just Redline WaterWetter....goood sheit.
Depending on intake setup your air temps can range from as low as 10c with WI to 50c stock setup. Personaly mine never go past 30.

ur speedo being out might be due ot having bigger wheels fitted than stock.
bigger wheel diameter = more circumfrence
Mine goes down to 68 on motorway!!! between 75 and 85 round town. I

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open (better than stuck closed ;) ), you should get it checked out as the ECU will be putting more fuel in at the lower temps there, due to cold start enrichment.
My twin days it read 86 all day every day .... on the single T i get 84c .
Air temps crusing on the motorway 25c ... pushing it 30c- 35c depending on weather conditions. How i love my new FMIC

Ahh really, i just thought i had an overly good cooling system, ha.
Is it easy to check yourself? I thought 10 mpg was a little on the steep side steep!!

:eek mine runs 85 water and around 20 - 30 air intake,

It\'s the only thing I can think it\'ll be... Unlikely to be a gammy sensor or you\'d never see the range of temps.
But the only real way to check is to pull it out and put it in a pan of boiling water and watch it open. But then for the few quid for a new Thermostat you may as well stick a new one in while you\'re at it.
That said, it looks like a total behatch of a job.
It\'s really really easy to replace the stat. 3x10mm bolts, remove the upper hose and the whole filler neck comes off. No need for sealant. Just buy a new stat with surrounding O ring. Will take no more than 20 mins and a tenner.
My temps are sitting at a rock solid 73 and 20 - 30 intake on my V-mount but the cool water temo could be down to having no undertray between the bumper & subframe so the rad gets max air flow all the time!!

73 is too low mate. Engine is not running at peak efficiency at that temp, and as said above the ECU is going to chuck in extra fuel when it\'s cool

Yeah but you have a big old FMIC on there don\'t you? I\'m still on an SMIC behind the rad.

Got a sneaky defusor plan going on in my head at the mo which will sort all these problems out, along with giving me downforce ;)
