Title: BOV fitment
Post by: James N on September 17, 2008, 02:16:37 PM
Hi, :WaveBye
My car will be done soon, and as i\'ve spent loads already, was thinking of treating myself to a BOV, i know people have mixed opinions of these, but i havent had a turbo car for a year now, and a just want one! :p
Anyone found any problems with running after installing one? Also, as the car isn\'t here i can check something, so i was wondering if someone could tell me if you can simply unbolt the recirc, and fit it there, and if it is the same flange type as the one in the link below?
These ones might look a bit cheap, but i know a guy with one on his Eclipse, and (admittedly after adjusting for hours) it sounds just right, not too loud, but noticeable...:yes
I was thinking of going for one (unless anyone is selling one?)

Cheers guys

There\'s no flange on the stock FC - just a pipe about 18mm dia that goes to the recirc valve.  If you take it off and replace with a bov, you need a double piston type, and you need to block off the whole in the inlet duct with a bung of some sort.

You can sometimes find the upright pipe section on ebay that replaces the stock plastic one with two outlets (BAC valve and RECIRC) with a single pipe and a flange fitting for HKS / BLITZ etc. dump valves or simply get one welded on to a bit of 50mm ID pipe.

^ what he said

thats what i have on mine ( and on the coupe in the past )

dead easy job , remove pipe , fit the new one with box , block hole in the back of the air box

i have an auto and it still works :D
