Hi,
Does anyone know how to remove the Jap 180kph speed limiter without having to convert the speedo from kph to mph? I don\'t want to change to mph as i\'m in NZ but keen to remove the limiter.
As i understand it the kph to mph converts don\'t remove the limit they just move the limit from 180kph to 180mph.
Cheers,
James.
I\'m sure someone will Know more about it or perhaps a better way of doing it but the signal from the VSS goes straight to the speedo and from there another wire goes to the ECU, The speedo possibly converts this signal as its a funny way of doing things. You could try cutting the wire to the ECU as on most cars vehicle speed is a very minor contribution.

thats of no help what so ever,
take the whole speedo unit out, on the back of board there will be a small phillips head screw with "180" written next to it. take that screw out and your limiter will be gone.
i see your from wellington, i used to live in palmerston north, now in brisbane.
as for cutting the ecu wire :2eek:eek:eek:
That effectivey doing the samething isn\'t it, stopping the ecu getting the speed signal.
The proper way of doing it is useing something like a hks sld. Wires into the speed sensor wire clamps the signal off at a pre set voltage so the car thinks your doing like 179 kph even when you are over.
buy an apexi ecu, all done
But as above you can buy a speed delimiter that goes in between the speedo wire to the back of the dash from the ecu. Just make sure you connect it tightly
