Post by: rx7ben on September 16, 2008, 07:42:35 PM
The rex is my first turbo car so i have no idea how to fit this Blitz dump valve ive just recived. I have a RE AMEMIYA air filter on my car so im guessing it goes somewhere on that. Could someone help me out.

Not on your filter mate, just behind that you\'ll find two small original black re-circulating type valves, they\'ll have denso written on them and an outlet from them will be going into your air filter, one of them is what your dump valve replaces and the other you leave alone...all you do is switch this with your blitz blow-off valve, plug in your vacuum pipe and block off your recirculating entry to your air filter...

hope this helps mate, if you know anyone whos fitted a blow-off to any other car, should be straight forward for them...

Hope this helps

I\'ve just gone through all this fitting a Bailey Motorsport...

Make sure you take off the one that says ABV not CRV like i did !

I cut the pipe too so i\'ve had to make a bodge involving a bit off an old bike, sounds odd but it worked !

when its set up properly, it wont open under boost so keep an eye on your boost guage (if you have one)

just got my blitz working properly and its SO loud even at .4 bar of boost :D

So basicly you should only get a woosh when you let off. At the moment i can hear it a little bit when im on slight boost.

4 bar i take it thats on a single. My boost guage is in psi and i only get 7-8 psi

noo lol 0.4 bar, the cars got a leak somewhere :)

as long as it doesnt leak under full boost you should be alright just keep an eye on the boost guage when your on full boost and look for any drops in psi, is it the blitz supersound?

this is what mine looks like...

Yeah it is a Blitz one but i dont have that filter on mine just a trumpet.

Speaking of drop in PSI before i fitted the B.O.V i noticed sometimes high up in the revs in 2nd and 3rd gear it would sometimes drop 1 or 2 psi on the guage. I just put it down to this khight sports ECU im running

lol yeah thats the one :D , well i removed that and bunged the pipes leading from it and that solved my quiet dump valve problem! but im running non sequential so i THINK the crv isnt needed anymore. might be worth giving it a try, also it seemed that where you position it makes a huge difference! where ive got mine now has given me the best results!

I took the CRV off and replaced it with the BOV and it made no sound at all, put the CRV back on and took the ABV off, connected the BOV to the elbow pipe the ABV was connected to and blocked the pipe from where the ABV was connected to the airbox and now it sounds like a pair of bus doors opening !

Another simple thing to do is clean your air filters, i remember when i bought my 1st FD a few years ago (twin-turbo), just by a simple cleaning on on the filters it made a big diff in sound...
