Hi all,
So my FD is failing it\'s MOT due to emissions (4.73 when it needs to be 3.5) and this is after Carl has spoken to them about trying to reduce them.
Going to chat to Carl tomorrow anyways but wondered if anyone else had any suggestions?
Car is stock engine, HKS filters, SMB downpipe, Dragon midpipe, SMB exhaust with a PFC mapped by Carl.
Cheers :)
Paul.
Isn\'t there a sort of grey area regarding emission testing on an import?
I\'d heard somewhere that an import that is before a certain year (which I can\'t remember, unfortunately), doesn\'t have to be tested for emissions. I could of course be completely wrong here.
pre 93 (i think!) dont require an emission test! had a 93 honda prelude vtec with 1 pipe from the stainless downpipe to backbox with no cats, no silencers and a stainless manifold, sailed through its mot due to not needing the test!
hiya mate, i had this problem last year. What year is your rx?
if its pre 95 you only need to do the non-cat test, not the fast idle.
see my linky here:

there is a phone number for VOSA too in case you need to verify, hope it helps.
p.s My car passed its mot again today, took it to the same place as last year and he remembered my car, so he knew the score with the emissions ;)
Is the Non-Cat test still monitored for emissions ?
It is the non-cat test but it still needs to pass emissions of 3.5 whatevers. Spoken to Pip and Carl now. Just waiting to see what my local place say, maybe they\'ll change their mind and be friendly, we\'ll see :)
ah sorry, assumed you were failing the fast idle.
No worries, it\'s getting sorted now :)
