Title: Cooling
Post by: rx7ben on September 15, 2008, 07:47:05 PM
When i floor my car for the first time (obvisley when its up to temp) the car really kicks and goes. But when ive been driveing it for a little bit and then floor it its no where near as quick. Is this down to the temputure and that theres no air escaping

If i got a vennted bonnet would it solve this annoying problem.

Cheers

It could be a number of things. Unlikely to just be solved by a vented bonnet. What is your temperature guage showing?
Before I had my rebuild, mine used to massively lose power when it had warmed up.

standard bumpers and bonnets really dont allow much air into the engine so the temps really gunna build up.. as above, whats you engine temps at? do u have an apexi fitted?
When mine black rex was mapped by pip after 20mins on the dyno the power drop was quite high due to the temps lol..

what ECU have yu got?? as I think the std ecu will actualy ajust the ignition timing to prevent detenation if it is running a little to hot!!

At the moment im running Knightsports ECU (but got as apexi power fc on the way) Knightsports intercooler and RE Amemiya air filter. My temp gauge shows normall so what could it be. I seem to be loseing alot of power when the engine is hot

standard gauge isnt worth having bud, fit an aftermarket one.. standard temp gauge isnt accurate and more often than none wont be enuff to show a problem well after its caused major damage...

Autometer and Splitfire do some nice cheap gauges.  Get em off a supporting vendor on here (think you might get a discount too!)

Prob heatsoak causing ur probs. If I were you I\'d get/use the commander to watch air and water temps (and knock!).
