Title: In Car Holder for Apexi PFC Commander
Post by: N777CK T on September 15, 2008, 11:59:31 AM
Just dropped the baby off to get the new ECU fitted! Can\'t wait to get it back already lol...

Just thought though... where can i get one of those holders so that the commander can mount on the dash/centre console!?!?

Good sale there, Martin! :Thumbs-up I gave up thoughts of bidding on that one when it got more expensive than buying a brand new one!

In actual fact, it probably weighs in about the same with postage and that, but I\'ll give Lil Steve a free plug anyway! When I looked at Martins auction it was at just under £40 with a few hours to go, so I was expecting it to reach a good £50 or so. Maybe I\'m tight, but its one of my own personal rules to never buy something off eBay for the same price or more than I could buy it anywhere else, otherwise surely that defeats the object of it? Not even from a top bloke like Martin!

I was kinda thinking of some sorta bodge with a cheapy Halfrauds phone holder for my commander but was worried it might look a bit pikey. When I saw yours, I was watching it hopefully all the time it was a few quid, then it went all fubar. Gutted now! Like you say, lot of money for a bit of placcy, even one with a nice R-Magic decal! :Giggle

Sorry to upset anybody, but I just bought one secondhand off a chap on here for £20 delivered... :D

However, mine doesn\'t have that R-Magic sticker or any sign that it ever did, despite looking untouched, so I wonder if someone has got a mould somewhere!?

*EDIT*: Just saw this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290171332797&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX&refitem=130252829485&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget&_trksid=p284.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSI%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D4%26ps%3D42

Looks like the sticker comes separately, hence why mine is missing, so is probably original after all. I did laugh at that listing - £37 for the holder, £32 postage! :D

The sticker comes separtely, so maybe the guy never used it? He probably flogged it separately for another £20.......

Hate you, by the way :Laugh. Very upset now

ooops! guess you were editing whilst I was posting then. Maybe I should edit my post so it looks like I spelled "separately" correctly? Nah, this wouldn\'t make sense then for future generations! :Giggle

The sticker comes separately, btw! :rollin

Aww was hoping you were going to reply with "..you can get then at x for a fiver a piece delivered.." oh well, might just slap some gaffer tape round it and stick it to the window:bandit (then again I still aint got my pfc yet lol)

Super-strong sticky backed velcro has kept mine honest up till now, but the trouble with that is the only bit of dash you can really stick it to (the passenger side of the heater control/stereo panel) slopes away from you, so its hard to read the commander on the move. All I have to work with comes from the peak value recall feature! I may just have to go with furkling a cheap phone holder into shape then......

RHDjapan has them for just over £44 delivered, seems to be about the cheapest option for a new one.

I\'ll have a check on the one I\'ve got up in my room later... would be looking£25 deliverd for the one Ive already got done. but if I need to make another one call it £35 deliverd (but I\'ll have to try and find the mould again :2Confused) the unit would have to be sprayed with a satin black for it to match the dash, or you could colour code it to the car? the oneI have got is a dark green I think, but a new one would be eather white or grey.

That\'s a really cool thing you\'ve built there, Jono. Does it still work as a vent, too?

Not that my vent actually blows any air out, but it\'d be nice to think it may work one day!

yea, stil functions as a vent too..... only thing is you cant change the direction of air flow ;)

I won it:) and to be honest I made the same mistake as usual and got carried away:2Rolleyes. It was a bit more than I wanted to pay but, that said, I looked at prices before hand and I\'m happy with my purchase. Plus I had it at my door a couple of days later in great condition. I\'ve tried phone holders and all sorts but this is a great addition to the interior.
