Title: Bailey motorsport dump valve
Post by: mark-ashley on September 13, 2008, 03:41:50 PM
Hello all...

The missus is at work this weekend which means i get to play with my car without her feeling all neglected !!!

So, i have a Bailey dump valve fitting kit but no idea how to fit it.

What i do know is what pipe to fit it on (take of the standard valve nearest the windscreen of the car) but i have have 2 bits of metal, one which looks like a blanking plug and the other looks like one end goes to a pipe on the car, the other to some tubing and the valve itself...

Any help would be most appreciated !

OK, let me put that a little better...

Do i remove the charge relief valve and replace that with the dump valve or do i remove the air bypass valve and replace it with the dump valve?

If i do replace either valve, both exisisting valves are a T piece, a hose on each end, the valve on top and another pipe going off to somewhere in the engine...

The fitting kit i have doesn\'t have a T-piece, as i mentioned above, it has a metal tube that looks like it is made to join a smaller pipe onto a larger pipe, possibly the blue tubing the kit came with that fits on the dump valve perfectly and what looks like a metal to stop to plug an open ended pipe.....

Which end do i blank off and which end do i connect the dumpvalve to ?

I\'m confused, massivley !

Right, i know how to fit it now, it\'s just getting the damn pipes off, they\'re bloody welded on !!!

OK, so i\'ve fitted the valve, replaced the charge release valve with a dump valve and i\'mnot getting the whoosh factor, in fact, i\'m getting nothing at all...

Any ideas ?

I\'ve got a blitz one and it\'s quite too. I\'ve got a Bailey\'s DV26 one to fit on but the pipes are a different size to the dump valve so i\'m not sure whether or not i should fit it! Any help on this would also be appreciated!

You need to take the Air bypass valve off which is the one nearest to your airbox, it\'s a little brown valve with ABV written on it, once that is removed it will leave you with 3 pipes, one the goes to the airbox, you need to block that one off, the larger one that goes to the manifold i think is the one you put the dump valve on and the small vacum hose goes on the pipe on the top of the dump valve...

With regards to the pipe being a smaller size to the dump valve, you need to get the fitting kit which includes a reducer pipe and plug for the pipe you have to block off on the airbox...

This is what you need http://www.mazdarotaryparts.com/bfd-id009-bailey-dump-valve-fitting-kitb-796-p.asp

I\'ve been dicking about with this all over the weekend and been discussing it with a few people. I took the CRV (Charge Relief Valve) off and replaced it with the BOV which is further back in the engine, this was the wrong one !

Pearl_Rex, not so sure why yours is quiet, can you post a pic of where you have fitted it ?

OK, as far as i know, the CRV should remain in place so you might want to put that one back on !!!

Might do but i\'m only clued up on the sequential setup ! If your not going to put the CRV back on, don\'t suppose you would be willing to part with the pipe from the airbox to the CRV ? I chopped mine and have had to bodge it till i get a new one !!!

If you can tell me the internal diameter and length of the pipe you need, due, I\'ll have a rummage in the garage for one that\'ll do you. I must have the original one floating around somewhere from when I swapped to silicone, but I wouldn\'t know off the top of me head which one it was without some measurements

Cool cool, i could email you a parts catalouge with the number and picture on it if that would help ? I can measure it too but would only be able to give you the hose diameter and approx length as i chopped a load off and lobbed it !

Or i could just replace the lot with nice brightly coloured silicone jobbies ! Where did you get yours from ?

Demon Tweeks are as good as anywhere else if you wanna go the silicone route. Its surprising how quickly it can get expensive, mind you! http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductList.asp?cls=MSPORT&grp=MC047&pgrp=M025&tlgrp=MS004

Unfortunately, my car\'s in for paint atm, so I can\'t get the measurements off that. I guess the length might be a bit tricky for you to measure, then, but I\'d need to know the internal diameter. From memory, I think its 22mm or so?

Just had a little look through there, i see what you mean !!!

Gonna see if i can get a genuine part, Docklands Mazda still haven\'t come back to me...

Oops, sorry, dude. Had a rummage in my teetering pile of old RX-7 bits, and the hose you need is split at the end. Now I think about it, I\'ve a feeling that was what sent me down the silicone replacement route in the first place. Sorry not to be able to help :(

Thanks for your help. I don\'t have an air box on mine; i\'ve got twin air filters. Although there are 2 pipes sort of just hanging there and i\'m thinking maybe they should be either blocked off or filtered or something!?

My dump valve is currently sat up near the windscreen on the driver\'s side. I\'ll try and get hold of a reducer piece and let you know how it goes. Thanks again,
Mark
