Post by: craig on September 11, 2008, 08:25:58 PM
Hi all
I would like to rebuild my 93 fd i have had it sat on the drive for some time, and thought i would give it a little go .
I have a small list of parts i need but would like  a full list  of every bit needed.
i did a search of the site and could not find anything.
plus is there any website that sells the parts ?

thank you for any help
Craig

some of it will depend on the condition of oteer parts in the engine such as rotors, rotor bearings etc etc

Try and get/borrow a rebuild video :) are you going to rebuild it to OEM specs or race specs?

just to the specs it came from mazda with,it does have a few new bits on it  intercoler and feed air intake and a feed exhaust, nothing to worry about i don\'t think.
Ill have to find a dvd ,will be nice to have a video of how to do it.

Dragon have always got everything in stock  at all times as i believe he supplies most of the other tuners with the bits I would have though he`s prob the cheapest as well.
Give Ross a ring 01404891888 say matt sent you.

You can get heavy duty gasket (Viton) kits better and cheaper from Gary at Rotaryarts, you can even reuse the water seals in his kits

yes they are , I have seen these in the flesh very good quality, wish this was available earlier when I did my build, the seals help stop blow by at high boost, and are actually used by a few top rotary drag racers abroad

Hurley are good but depends what are your plans with the motor, porting and stuff, stick with Mazda OEM side seals, corner seals again stick with Mazda unless you are into Bridge Porting go with Atkins solid corner seals.
What are your plans with the car?

We ran full Mazda seal thoughout in the drag car and steves car, stock seals and corner seals, havent found there limit yet.
The best parts are Mazda, the other o\'ring kits are only made because they can be made cheaper, not better.

Do you remove the plastic inserts on the corner seals Ross on Steves Car? mine got chewed up hence why I went solid corner seals

My plans are just to stay pretty much stock for now apart from de-cat, maybe a set of filters and an Apexi PFC so be be looking somewhere around the 300 ponies mark. What are your thoughts?

Yes just remove the rubber bungs, they dont do a great deal anyway. All stock Mazda 2mm seals in the drag car and steves car etc.

Hi Karl
sorry to hear about your car ,are you planning on making it faster?

I just thought i would have a play with mine and do it my self, tryed selling the car on e-bay but could only get £750 for it so thought  might as well play about with it and if it still does not work then what the hell just sell it for scrap.

Has any1 got the DVD  they can sell me or pass on ?

Thanks for the number Matt ill give Ross at Dragon a ring  when i get back from holiday, think i saw 1 of there cars running at totb a few years ago most amazing fd i have ever seen.

So if i get the RotaryArt full block kit
   with
Hurley Race Apex Seals/Tips 13b 3mm

then this would  only leave me with internal parts like housing and rotors to get if needed ?

oh and oil and sparkplugs ect

Could be wrong but i think you only need 2mm apex seals if your doing a standard rebuild. 3mm are more race spec and you\'ll have to get the rotors machined out to accept them... But i could be wrong

Dont think so make. I\'m pretty sure the standard mazda ones are 2mm.
