Title: Buying a used Apexi Power FC
Post by: rx7ben on September 10, 2008, 06:18:56 PM
I have managed to track down a used Apexi P FC for my 1993 fd but want to no if there is anything i should be aware with when buying a USED UNIT.

1. The seller wants £400 for it. Is this to much.

2. Has there been any issues with the Apexi units or are thay quite robust.

Cheers........

Usually a very robust unit, obviously will need it remapped to your specific modifications.

Lost a map on one once, sent it to RBMotosport they put a safe base map in, sent it back. Arranged a full map set up, took it up there, he mapped it all afternoon achieving 170mph+ at least 3 times while mapping  and the car was incredible!

Only thing with buying second hand is trusting the seller and you\'ll have no warranty!!!

You can always get a new one making use of the fact that the pound is actually rising against the dollar..

Comes with a commander too (which you\'ve not said if the £400 one does or not). Reckon it translates to about £500 inc delivery..

I paid £350 for a secondhand one.  Haven\'t fitted it yet though but I have no reason to doubt the seller.

Are they a member of the club/forum? there may be feedback on them on here somewhere already

Where from? If it\'s from outside the EU are you not likely to get stung for the import duty? Anyone know what import duty percentage is applied to stuff like this?

did you get it from jps trading off ebay by any chance? i bought one from there for £440 and it took 5 weeks to arrive as they struggled to get stock, they obviously whacked £40 on the price after that as they find it hard to source if your £480 unit is from them

oh right, i just checked and JPS are pricing them at £490 now so obviously i got the last one before the price rise :) as said in the other thread, i think the fact mines 16 bit made it harder to get hold of, less used ones about as well so just went for new
