Guys, what NGK iridium plugs would you recomend for the FD??
Spec:
HKS down pipe
RMagic Decat
5Zigen cat back
Custom stainless intake pipes
K&N filter (with cold feed)
Massive blits FM intercooler (set in Vmount position)
Greddy intake elbow
Walbro 255 pump
Double throttle removed
0.9 bar boost on stock sequential twins (going to be custom before too long ;) )
Std injectors @ the mo (going to be putting a second set of secondries in so 6 injectors in total)
Apexi PFC all mapped up.
Any sujestions as I can get them through work at a good price ;)
Cheers
Jono
Just been trying to purchase some NGK BUR10EQP plugs for the trailing side!
Apparently NGK do not do these anymore?
I would recommend a 10 rated plug in the trailing side and the NGK BUR9EQP in the leading! More so if your attending track and quarter mile events
do NOT use iridiums. they have welded electrodes which will break off in a rotary engine alot easier than in a piston motor.
the bur plugs are fine as are the egv plugs, egvs abit better for a hotted up motor.
That is only the Denso plugs
The NGK plugs are fine!
Ive run them in my engines without fail and a lot harder than most would.
Hi, its Ben from lindopmotorsport we recomend using 9eqp\'s on std rebuilds and race plugs in modified engine\'s, we can supply both if needed, nice and cheap. Race plugs are £24 each, std plugs are £8.27 each. Give us a call if you need them and i can get them posted out to you.

Now got a full range of these plugs in stock...ready for shipment :)
Why not use B10EGV\'s they are just as good as the R6725 and are only a fraction of the price.....
:flamed
yip, thats what i heard too -the centre pin blown to kingdom come...
Remember if you intend to use B10EGVs you have to file down the spark plug socket to get them in on a FD

never seen NGK R740s or R725s do that been using them for years as many other high powered Rotaries.
Hearing and seeing are two different things

Sure, but a small price to pay for a plug that will do the same job for way less money....:Laugh
true but they dont last as long as they are not iridiums I believe so swings on roundabouts really, both work
The R plug gives a much cleaner burn, and will last longer.
I think it is a case of what suits the application...

If I happen to meet more owners using the iridium plugs and reliably then I might have a different point of view.

taken from the kiwi rotary forum :
"***WARNING DON\'T USE THE \'NEW\' EIX RANGE OF IRIDIUM PLUGS or ANY PLATINUM PLUGS***
They use a friction weld to hold the Iridium/ PLATINUM tip in place, this can fail in turbo engines with catastrophic results....."
- its just what I heard...
:Talking1
whats new EIX range and NGK 742s (these have been around for donky years)got to do with each other?, these plugs get used by RE-A , Feed, HKS in Japan, etc etc anyway cant be bothered to argue the toss , use what every you want Dude , I will carry on using my NGKs quite happly
Right just had a look on that post on kIWI Forum, they are talking about a diiferent range of plugs EIX are the "R7" series!
EIX are designed just for piston engines hell you can even buy these in Halfords, so please mate stop spreading misinformation on this forum over two different types of plugs.
R742 v EIX plugs NOT the same plug.
R742s were designed for rotary turbo engines and their high heat hence the"R" bit in the model number
and here is a pictures showing the difference between the EIX v the NGK/HKS
EIX on the left, NGK/HKS on the right
as you can see twoo totally different plugs, plus if you want to use EIX you would have to use a modified plug socket to fit them
no idea.....
stop by boots and ask for some chill pills...
yes I know you have no idea :rollin
haha
:Snoring
you are the best I luv you
ive been using the B9EGV plugs in mine for about 2 years now since its been modded with good results and no problems and they only cost £32 a set, gonna be going up to B10EGV now ive gone single turbo. Theres a few guys who live near me who have been running single turbo FD\'s for quite a while and they recommended the B9EGV plugs to me. As said above you have to modify the socket to get them in :Thumbsup!
do they do an 11 heat range Chris?

yep, same here:Thumbsup! 9\'s all round for me with no issues and in this cold weather they perform better. In the summer its 9\'s and 10\'s
im not sure i always get them from here //www.spark-plugs.co.uk so will take a look
ok just checked and they do, if you type in b11egv in the part search on the left it will find them. £6.79 a plug :Thumbs-up
nice, as the yen is screwed at the mo, maybe a good alternative for me to use those for the time being and save my 742s for the drag work
try this http://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/pages/pricing/applications/NGK-race-plugs.as
ooops seems we were typing at the same time...:) well thats where i get mine from too less the half the price:evillaugh
great minds think alike hehe
Time to buy a socket and grind it I think
Quote from: BlitzBoy;548891Time to buy a socket and grind it I think
yes, but take your time...you dont want it too thin:eek:
what did you use to grind it?
Quote from: BlitzBoy;548895what did you use to grind it?
grinder...:Thumbsup!
lol haha I might get Geff or Chris Saturday to do me one
I run EGV\'s in mine and still will, but had one fail on ceramic insulator recently. Not sure why as engine was stone cold and drove home fine the night before.
remember they are a race plug and need changing regularly.
a guy at a local garage used the socket that comes in the tool kit in the boot of the FD, has quite thin walls anyway, grinded it out to make it a little thinner and also welded in a piece in the end so i could attach a ratchet :Thumbsup!
How often / need changing ? -what do you recom ...miles ?
Thanks

Wouldnt want that little bit of ceramic in my engine :Nono!

What do you think would cause the insulator to break apart? could it be the cold weather (air temps) as I\'ve just noticed this happen to one of my HKS Iridium plugs, symptoms were slight misfire on idle and plugs seemed to be getting fouled quickly on idle.... luckily no damage but I wont be using these again for sure :Grrr
If you are using EGVs with a HKS TwinPower there is a risk of damaging the Twinpower due to the EGVs being the non resistor type
Mark what about the HKS Irridium plugs? They say NGK on the side but branded HKS... I take it the NGK racing plugs will be okay with the Twinpower?
Yes all the Iridium plugs are fine as they are the resistor type.
This is what happened to mine
You should have seen my normal 9s from a few years ago there was nothing left at the top lol
are you sure its broken? as its hard to tell in that picture. It looks more like the heat has melted it?....may be wrong:2eek

yeah the middle insulator is broken in half

are you always this unfriendly / obnoxious or is it just this forum ?
Its obviously a pointless exercise reasoning with you on this topic.

zzzz what ever dude Just trying to give out correct info on spark plugs, but it seems you just want a internet argument seeing as you quoted an old post I made two months ago
I see from above that we seem to have a problem that potentially could get out of hand,
As this would now seem to be a result of a "problem" that has festered over the last two months can I ask that this now personal problem is taken away from this thread and this club please.
If you are unable to sort this out away from the club can I ask that you do not directly post "at each other" on any future threads,
Please note ALL of the moderators reviewed this thread some two months ago after a reported post and saw fit to take no action.
Thanks guys,
