Just bought an rx with a blown motor. At the moment sizing up my options, anybody know if you can get second hand low mileage engines? from japan say??
why buy a second hand engine from Japan? You can get them here....i have a perfectly good one for eg.
i meant originally from japan. i.e someone who imports containers of engines. Also what sort of price should i expect, anyone had any experience of this?
give tim at rx motors a call, he ships in crates of engines and sometimes has good compression second hand engines available.
try tim at rx motor though as hes your best bet and quite frankly the only person in the country who i know that imports rx7 engines whomi would trust...anyone else who reckons they got a low mileage engine from japan as far as im concerned is lying thru their teeth. You\'ll be looking at around 1300 ish id imagine for a fully dressed engine
If your willing to spend some money all the big japanese tuners (RE-A, Panspeed, famspeed etc ) will build you an engine to your spec and arrange shipping/customs/duty etc.
The engines themselves are not that expensive over there but its getting it to blighty that dents your pocket.
I recall a figure of about £4500 to amemiya for a fully built three rotor running big twins and 700hp reported in banzai a couple of months back.
I imagine it would be a lot cheaper and less hassle to get a uk tuner to build something for you.

I know of 2 recent rebuilds for sale, one highly ported (mine) and another stock unit that has been rebuilt very recently that a friend is selling.
How much chris? and where were they rebuilt? how long ago etc? Warranty? Cheers!
How about this?

Hi Chris,
I think you may have put the wrong link up.

Hi carl,
I guess I could have explained that better......The link is correct, the ported engine is the one that is in my car (currently running a to4r single turbo), and can be driven as per the link, I am also aware of someone else who is selling a stock rebuilt engine for £1400 :)
