Title: 2001 rs type
Post by: elegantparts on September 07, 2008, 02:09:37 AM
Hello All,

i have a 2001 rx7 rs type. i have it on an irish plate atm, it was the only way to have it registered! and i am currently driving it in the UK, as long as it has tax i think it should be fine to drive until 2011 when it becomes 10 years old. the car is on pistonheads and i really need to get rid of it as am immigrating to the states soon.

thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, in ireland all you have to pay is VRT which is vehicle registration tax, but for my rx7 it was around 6000 euro!!! once you paid that you will be given the plate number.

I heard it can be done in the UK for about the same!?
Makes for an expensive car though :(

Still, it\'s all about having a newer car, and not forever replacing pipes and bushes that have got old!

oh really i didnt know that, i know that in the UK they want it to pass an emmisson test, which it will not pass, i tried everything to have it registered in the UK. am moving to the states soon and i cant take the car with me so i have no choice but to sell it.

Yes, I looked into it when I wanted a later spec FD......was going to import one since theres not many around, you have to get the whole car tested by DVLA or similar....and the bill runs into thousands of pounds!

Moving to the states!!?? How? I want to do that lol...love it out there!

Gotta find out a way to switch the steering wheel over tho lol so I can take my FD :)

same here, i didnt want to come back when i went this summer!
am going on an E-2 Visa (investers Visa) thats the only way i can remain they legally, you have to set up a business and it has to be running and earn a good amount of money, its also a quick way of coming to the states, the whole process should take no longer than 6 months.
