Title: Turbo II project for sale
Post by: James N on September 04, 2008, 05:12:47 PM
Hi guys,
i bought an fc3s only last friday, with the intention of keeping it, but unfortunately something has come up, and i\'ve tried to think of something that will allow me to keep her, but had no luck :(, which will mean i have neither the funds or time to finish it.
It needs the o/s sill welding, the screen is cracked, and there\'s a blow from the downpipe to be sorted for mot, but otherwise is a good example. Theres 2 very small dents, but the bodywork is good, the engine runs lovely and comes on boost perfectly.
I\'ll add a couple of pics, and a link to the ebay ad where you can see i paid 910 quid for it.
Heres the ebay link;
Mazda RX7 2.6 Turbo Petrol G-Reg on eBay, also, Mazda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 22-Aug-08 11:31:41 BST) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=140257566664&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=004)
And the pics from above link;
I\'ll add a few more pics when i can figure out how to get them off my phone.
So i paid 910, i\'ve fitted new belts and it cost me 80 quid to collect it, but i\'m prepared to take 750ono.
Cheers everyone,
James

Go stand on a street corner, you may get lucky ??  Hope you find a good home for it, shame you have to sell but its no point keeping something thats not going to get the attention or money the car should have thrown on it.  Its cheap enough so plenty of potential buyers.

breaking it will mean its just sat on your driveway longer and longer and longer :(

is it mot\'d and taxed ?
Title: Turbo II project for sale
Post by: James N on September 05, 2008, 04:39:40 PM
No, it isnt. Thats why it has to go, i need to sell one, and the skyline is mot\'d & taxed. If i sell that, i\'m left without a car till rx is done!

if you are going to that extent i can give it a loving home for not much cash - just no idea how to get it from you to me

im at J27 on the M6 - so although not the other side of the world - its far enough

i will give you a lift home if you can deliver it !! :D

I know its not, but i need it gone, i dont think you liked that idea much! I\'d just like to point out i\'m not saying FC\'s should be weighed in, i love them, but was silly enough to buy on at the wrong time, when i had no money or space for one.
Whats your postcode mate? Could you PM me it, i\'ll see how far, and i may be able to deliver it and get back ok. What sort of not much cash are we talking? I\'d rather it went to you than me pulling it apart and selling engine etc seperately anyway....
Cheers

Post by: grinder on September 05, 2008, 07:54:30 PM
glad you can keep hold of it a little longer

is there NO way you can keep it - get it welded on the cheap and the exhaust sorted ( cant be that hard to do the exhaust )
Title: Turbo II project for sale
Post by: James N on September 05, 2008, 10:30:30 PM
Not really, i kind of need the cash. I could mot it, but i\'m not the best welder to be honest, so that would be more money to sort out
Title: Turbo II project for sale
Post by: grinder on September 06, 2008, 01:19:23 AM
hummmm not a good situation then - although i had never welded and managed to get the coupe back in one piece and thru a mot

have a look at //www.fc3s.co.uk at the rusty rex section - and that shows what i was up against :D

I seen this for sale over at Driftworks.. man for the price you are asking for it there i would have bought it just for the bonnet and badges!.. total bargain.. Surely you could do a buy it now at that price on eBay and get it in a heart beat?

i cant let it go for a couple of hundred quid, it would simply be too much money lost, for less than 500 i\'d rather just have a very tight month or 2, fix it, and sell it with mot & tax to be honest...

You guys do a great job of devaluing these cars :(
Title: Turbo II project for sale
Post by: sadgoth on September 08, 2008, 04:53:17 PM
TBH what devalues cars is people needing to sell quickly and therefore putting them on ebay with a low reserve! A mate and I bought a non-running cab with 1 months MOT for £500 sorted it out (badly flooded) fixed the dent on the wing and MOT\'d it sold it for £1300 (and that was cheap!!!).

But that doesn\'t help if you need to sell the car, I\'m sure you could get £800-£900 for it if you were prepared to wait, but if you need it shifted ebay isn\'t the place to get a lot of money for a non-MOT\'d car. You\'ll sell it but you won\'t get what you want for it, buyers on ebay know that sellers are desperate (you can normally tell from the low start price or low reserve). I saw a 52 plate AMG Merc CLK55 in good nick with average miles go for £7800 on ebay last month - a similar car was sold by a trader for £14k!
Title: Turbo II project for sale
Post by: James N on September 08, 2008, 05:14:52 PM
True, i\'d ideally like 500, but if it goes on ebay then it\'ll probably have no reserve and i\'ll just have to cope with losing a fair bit of cash on it :(
I probably paid over the odds for it, but i really wanted one, i just bought it at the wrong time!
I\'ve been offered 200, which wouldn\'t be worth me selling it for, i\'ve been told 220-250 if i take it to my local scrapyard!!
I\'d rather sell it to someone on ebay for that than see it scrapped, i really could never scrap it. :(:(

is there not interest in the skyline at all yet?

it just seems such a shame to see it go
Title: Turbo II project for sale
Post by: James N on September 08, 2008, 05:21:17 PM
Long story... I\'ve kind of broken the skyline, so i\'ll have to fix that as it\'ll be quicker/cheaper than fixing the rex up as the skyline is mot\'d & taxed. But as i have spend a bit to fix skyline it wont be worth selling it, so i\'ll stick a turbo lump in and keep it.

why not sell the turbo skyline for an rx....:D

sounds like your situation sucks mate, hope you work it out

To be honest, i probably will. I really want an FC TII, but it just isn\'t going to happen at the moment. I\'m currently half way through an application to join the RAF, and i\'m driving up to Norwich quite often, only maybe 100 mile round trip, but i need something reliable, and i need it quickly. The Skyline will simply be quicker to get finished, and funds are tight so i cant keep both!

As a matter of interest if you need any help in a job in the RAF let me know.  I can give you whatever info you need to make sure you get the right job.  Do not be persuaded to go for a job you did not go in for.  To be honest the best trades are engineering, do not be an armourer, that job has no future employment in civvy street at all.
feel free to email me on pdtaylor18@hotmail.com for a chat or more info.
You can phone 01760 338172 any time in evening.

The job i\'ve applied for, and passed AST to an acceptable level is for Weapons Technician. Looks like an interesting career, and i\'m currently an Avionics Technician, working on safety/survival equipment for civilian aircraft.
You in RAF then mate? I might add you to MSN for a future chat if thats ok?
Cheers mate,
James

Yes I am and have done 19 years. You can certainly add me to your list.  There are several others on here as well so theres an anbundance of experience across the trades.
We can chat outside this Forum but I dont mind if you start a different thread so you can let others know about the process, job, money, prospects etc.  It might just drum up more trade, think the RAF needs this at the moment.
One of the chaps who work withs me drives an RAF sponsored rally car, he was at an event to do some PR for the RAF and someone came up to him and said heres my card, I want your \'product\' to be the face of the RAF.  He is now a two man team that is now able to rally his car wherever and whenever, he got a budget of 15K a year and he also has to attend schools and other events with his car on display.  He has landed on his two feet rather firmly because he would do the events anyway and now he gets an allowance to do that.  Thats on top of his 35K he gets a year.

The pics below is to give you an idea of what we do at airshows, this was a role demo with huge fire bombs.  Quite a crowd pleaser.  This aprticular aircraft is a Tornado GR4 and is from my Sqn.
