i have a question about if anyone can answer for me... im in the process of converting to a single t51 turbo and on the external waste gate theres 2 nipples/valves, can anyone tell me where they go and wether with an apexi avcr, does one get blanked off or does it go to the plenim chamber???
many thanks skillz
Quick tip, mate - you want to post this sort of thing in the technical forum, not the technical stickies :D (might be why your previous post got locked)
As to your question, I\'m afraid i don\'t have a clue (still got stock twins myself ;))
I believe that boost pressure usually goes to the bottom port, and boost controlled pressure goes to the top port. It might differ depending on boost controller though. Some controllers might just go to the bottom port with top port open to atmos. So, it\'s probably a case of reading the boost controller instructions.
The bottom port is there is open the wastegate, the top port is there is apply pressure against the wastegate to helpkeep it shut.
I have the Greddy Profec B spec 2, and that requires boost pressure to the bottom port, and the solenoid controlled pressure to the top port. The solenoid will then open and close to keep the wastegate shut or open as required
the nipple on the side will need to be connected to the vacuum side of the turbo EG between filter and turbo (or you can tap a connection on to your compressor housing) This hold the waste gate shut which will help turbo spool.
The told nipple need to go to your boost controller or UIM/LIM or somewhere on your boost pipes.
Does that make sense?
oh dear!!!! LOL
Moved into correct section ;)
still a little confused lol but thanks hehe
i think im right! but then i would.
AVCR manual Clicky (http://www.apexi-usa.com/pdfInstallation/45.pdf)
Manual page 44 (PDF page 46) shows wastegate connections, with & without boost controller.
thats odd the blitz add shows the connection on the vacuum side of the turbo
Quotethats odd the blitz add shows the connection on the vacuum side of the turbo
That will not work, wastegate needs boost source to open it.
