Evening,
I\'ve got a pair of FD rear speakers in their brackets, ready to fit. I\'m going to replace the standard 25W speakers with something slightly better, obviously.
Question is, how the hell do you get the OE speakers out of the brackets? they are glued all the way around!!
If I am successful (read minimal patience) can anyone recommend a good replacement?
Cheers!
they shouldont be glued, there should be 4 screws arouns the outside
Yeah, they\'re glued in. You need to bosh, lever them out with a screwdriver.
mine were just screwed in four phillips anything 6x4 should fit although with some carefull trimming i fitted 6x9s

That just bent the bracket! gonna try a small screwdriver and a sharp blade :WaveBye
There a pain to get out, i used screwdrive and stanley but still bent the frames, but there pretty easy to bend back into shape.
I was hoping for an easy option, damn!
i had this problem but once i got the blade under one edge it was easy to prise them further and the glue gave way. i removed the whole bracket from the car, speakers and all, and did it in the garage. i replaced them with some pioneers that were a direct replacement.

Nice one, thanks.
Now I\'ve got one of the speakers and bracket in the freezer! hoping the glue will be more brittle when I attack it some time this week with a screwdriver
I used these http://www.european-parts.net/catalog/images/DSC00771.JPG

if you dont care about the old speaker, boiling water might do it
boiler water is next should the freezing not help. Then WD40 and finally a blowtorch!
We go every year on the DTM weekend, keep me posted and we\'ll hook up. Be nice to go round in a quick RX7 \'mines only standard\'
