Hi,
Any of you boys had to get a new windscreen fitted to your fc? Anyone recommended? And how much? It will unfortunately be me paying, not insurance :(
Cheers guys,
James
No, but I would be interested in the cost of having it out and then re-fitted.
I looked into both of these questions when I did my project, a new windscreen + removal + fitting cost me around £150-165.
And with regard to removing a windscreen and reusing.. nearly all of the companies won\'t touch it. Unfortunately, bonded windscreens, like the Rx7 uses, are a buggar to get out and nearly all of them crack and chip at the edges when being removed.

wow that is cheaper than Autoglass thought! They reckoned it would be about £500 because they are bonded, curved and tinted! :eek
LOL! £500 for a windscreen, that\'s about half the price of running turbo II!
I used a local company as they could order in the glass the next day, then have it fitted the day after that
Had FC and FD screens supplied/replaced for under 200 quid all in.
As for remove/refit, I had my FDs screen removed by the local autoglass for 25 quid, but they will make it clear that if it cracks when they do it, its tough ****. Guys that did mine were careful and it came out with a nick.
My FD screen cost my insurance nearlt £1300 all in. Some of the little palstic clips were a few hundred pounds. My old one was pitted and the chap was really careful getting it out and it still cracked. Any reason why you can not use an insurance? be the best £60 excess you will ever pay. Guess it pays to shop around and see what you can get. Shop around but there is not much choice really. AutoGlass did mine though so they were very good, they should find what you need. Some have the aerial strips built in but you donrt need these.

:Hammer:Hammer:Hammer Thats nuts!!
My mate who used to work for autoglass tried to get my breaker one out a few weeks ago and it cracked :( it was proper bonded solid and just wasn\'t going anywhere.
The problem with insurance is that i bought the car needing a bit of work, i\'m not driving it so i havent insured it. Maybe i should insure it now, then in a month when work is finished on it i can claim & get new screen...?
If you need to replace the plastic trim around the FC windscreen then you can add another £500 give or take - just thought I\'d share some more happy news.... :(
i had a new screen fitted to my FB carn\'t remember the price but when the car rotted out i took the screen off myself (bonded in) it came out fine and is sitting in the garage! the FB has plastic clips which are like £40 tops from Mazda if you can get the old one off ok and clean it up someone will fit it for £60 - £80 try independant guys rather than big companys

Yeah, these all seem very expensive prices guys! I had the rear screen taken out and re-sealed on my last FD to cure a leak and it was 50 quid for a local man-with-a-van travelling autoglazier to come and do it. Although he did make it plain that if it shattered or cracked, it was my problem, not his!
