Title: How do you remove the Black trim?
Post by: Retro_Boy_G on September 01, 2008, 09:15:06 AM
Hey guys,

I\'m starting work on the RX7 now and first job i want done on the exterior is to colour code the black trim around the car with the rest of the car. Has anyone ever removed it or know how its done?.. I had a quick look at it yesterday but could not make my mind up wither it was glue or clips holding it down..

Thanks guys! :)

P.S. Could anyone take a picture of the exact Castrol Oil they use in their RX7?.. I went to get some yesterday and there were too many to choose from.. I\'m an idioth... :(

probs has it but setting it up is            beyond me. well its a white bottle that says castrol gtx on it. then under that it says 10w-40 a3/b3. the only similar ones say either diesel or high mileage.

just found them in the work shop manual. theyre just glued on to the sides. it says to carefully use a knife and if you get stuck use a hair dryer to help. the front and rear bumpes are snap on. just remove the lights or reflectors first

All the ootside trim is also held on by push fit clips. They use those glue strips as well but be warned the clips are very tight and often break. Some of the rear ones and wings you can get to from behind to help them out.  If you have a steel ruler I found this the best to gently prise them away from the body. Theyt will often end up slightly curved but don nopt worry about this as they will be stuck back on. Just leave them flat somewhere and they revert to being flat again. (not unless you have seriously yanked it off)

Ha Ha.. ok Thanks! :)

Can anyone now tell me the exact wheel fitments for my RX7? I was looking into powder coating but its almost working out the same price as a nice set of new alloys which sucks.. I just don\'t know what ones will fit.. I\'m looking for white.. pretty much the exact same as these..

Ha Ha.. buy one! I\'m still waiting on the plate coming in.. Although it believe it only covers the original cluster and does not actually replace it. I do however have some new white dials that just came in today.. they are for the turbo and wont give me the correct readings on my dials. :( If anyone wants them i will do them for £12 delivered.

Which bit you on about? If you can post a pic up I\'ll probably have one if its off the standard dash.

I cant post a pic atm. But its basically its the black plastic face that surround all the dials. Also its for an s4. Does this mean you have lots of spares? I could do with the glass cover for the dash too :D

I\'m pretty sure its just an overlay.. I will let you know when it arrives and i "try" to install it.. I\'ve not had much luck so far when doing things myself.. I tried to install my steering wheel and ended up with my finger stuck in the flip that covers the petrol cap...... hahahaha! long story... :(
