Hi guys,
just wondered if u guys can help me out, i have a 93 fd with polished ports, apexi with remap, the engine was built 8 months ago with a new turbo pack,
Today i was drivin the car normally and got to a roundabout, the car stalled, thought ummmmm strange so started the car again and oh no, sounds like its only firing on one rotor so pulled over and cried lol.... when i started it to drive her home (only half a mile away) she chucked out a lot of blue smoke... got her home and had a look at the surrounded areas, took of the cat as thought maybe its knackered and blocked..need to replace it, then took out the plugs just in case..... THEY ARE ALL T\'s no leading plugs now im really ****ed off cos these were relpaced when i had a rebuild...|
other probs are she is hunting at idle but that get sorted by ajdusting the ICV screw!!!.. had a bit of blue smoke every now and then but that apparently is cos the cat is on it way out .....
I dont know if this is the reason for this but i was wondering if u guys could offer any advise.......
the plugs issue is irrelevant. the plugs are all the same. how many miles has the engine done in 8 months?
i thought u had t\'s and l\'s leading and traling plugs, tis y it has L and T on the block....
6k miles
if the plugs are 9s all round then it shouldnt matter. 6k miles means the plugs might need changing...i change mine every 5k. have you tried that yet
thats cool then, lol lol will have to change them now then, do u think this is fooked, as really dont wanna buy a new engine
try swapping the plugs over from one rotor to the next (ie the running rotor to the non running rotor) and see if it makes the other rotor run (if you see what i mean!!)...
were you giving it any beans when it did let go?
as stupid as this sounds take it back immdeiatly to where you got the new engine from.....
you got somethin majorly wrong.
no was at a roundabout waiting to go
no longer covered under the warrenty, plus the guy is a dick to be honest not happy with whats been done at all, recommed people to him and i know of 3 people that have gone to him for a rebuild and they all went pop.... so if its fooked im gonna go somewhere else of by a dodge viper lol lol lol
Why dont you give the engine builder a call and see if he will help you out. I know who you are talking about and also know that he is always willing to help and always has with everyone that I know. I know a fair few people in the rotary world that use him and no one has complained about any engines popping. But you make no mention at all of any conversations to try sort this out regardless of warranty. Also 8 months and no warranty doesnt sound right. Wasnt that engine rebuilt mid last year..around may which would make it close to 15 months now?
Reading through your posts it seems like you don\'t know arse from elbow let alone look after a rotary, so before calling tuners dicks u should look to educate yourself with basic maintanence, or just buy a viper.
how many miles have you covered since your rebuild, and did you bed in the new engine, ie not using loads of boost after the rebuild?
get the compression checked to check if you have dropped a tip (comp tester 15 quid from halfords), if one rotor isnt firing it could be electrical but rule a dropped tip out first
