was into a long line of scoobies before i got in to my FD\'s...

had this V5 type R

all i can say is they are stunning machines and they will not dissapoint... they are a little frisky in the rain due to the power split being 64:36 rear biased and they do not have ABS due to the centre diff control. They also have very short gear ratio\'s, so are not ideal for motorway driving.

A safer option would be a UK spec\'d P1 which come split 60:40 front:rear but does have ABS and no centre diff control.

Not alot can touch the STi type-R\'s up to around 100mph but thats when they run out of puff due to the gearing, so depends how addicted you are to your top-end perfromance.

hope this helps...

Don\'t know much about Scoobys, but I did test-drive a P1 before I bought my Evo VI - it felt like driving an old man\'s saloon with a big turbo. Very disappointing and massively over-priced, the Evo spanked it hands down in every department (particularly in not looking like a chav! ;) )

If you are looking get a Evo 5, the prices have dropped crazy low now :Giggle

A very decent one is like £7000 now and a standard one can be had for like £5800 :3Confused

i had a type r a couple of years ago and loved it. it was easy to drive everyday and the visibility and driveability was great. fuel economy was decent and it really put he power down. acceleration used to push me back into the seat hard and it was perfect for everyday use.

however, like most old subaru\'s, rev them hard and they will go pop. just look at how many you see advertised with a rebuild or new engine in them
