Title: Rear Diffuser
Post by: FEED Addict on August 28, 2008, 06:25:21 PM
Hello once again Guys,
Now that the front canards are fitted I am starting to look to the rear.:D And currently pondering/dreaming of fitting ReAmemiya carbon rear diffuser with bowtech generators (like on Whifbitz time attack Rx). just wondered how low you guys are sitting and still getting away with having this fitted without busting them (there not the cheapest thing in the world to leave on a speed bump). If you don`t mind popping out some time and having a measure it would be greatly appreciated (no rush as the car will be garaged for the winter at the end of September). here is a pic of where i have measured.

not an ideal measurement for you dude..but i had a 25cm gap between my arch and tyre at the top of the tyre. The tyre was a 265/35/18
With that height setting it didnt rub on speedbmps....JUST....it did catch slightly on some VERY large bumps in London but i dont think you wil find many of them out in the sticks

Will this fit with your feed arches Gary? it also looks close to the exhaust.  I do like it though, finished in satin black, or maybe get one of our carbon experts to make a copy-ish

I\'ll go out and measure mine tomorrow, its pretty low and doesn\'t rub on the back, only the front bumper on occasion and midpipe lol! Although it will depend on your damping suspension wise, mine is pretty hard as its setup for track usage so there is only a 1" compression with my spring rates.

if you mail me matt.wiltshire @ peugeotmail.co.uk i will get some pics of mine as its low like bens and no issues mate will measure aswell

Post by: Initial-D on August 31, 2008, 07:47:13 PM
Mine is at 49 cm height (measured to your pic) and the diffuser has 14cm of clearance from the underside to the ground.

I have raised the rear coilovers up 2cm (when I changed my tires) and even when it was lower the diffuser didn\'t rub.

mine is the same as bens but i am going lower still!

We should have a \'Whos is the lowest\' comp!
I run my front pretty low with about a 2" gap - can just squeeze over most speed bumps!

Maybe one for next years Rotorstock, limbo RX competition!!
Mine`s just enough to get on a toe truck with a bit of wood under the wheels!
Have caught the front once or twice this rear.

ok ben your on! going to have to swap the 99 nose to something lower anyway, lets see how lower it will go!

I think mine sits similar to this (it\'s pretty damn low), but the front edge of my sideskirts seems to sit even lower as I\'m forever catching that on the narrow speedbumps as the front wheel drops off them (even if the front bumper doesn\'t catch).

I definitely think you should get the diffuser Gary, even if it\'s just to make me more jealous of the way your car looks :rollin

Joking aside though, I think it would complete the "look".

Ohh that sounds pretty low indeed od404! No air suspension cheating here though please (for those that can), it has to be the height you drive the car around at!! ;)

Nope no such trickery on my car!  Just RS*R springs on unknown Japanese shocks.

I wouldn\'t have said it was, the bumper is fine, just the skirts that are giving me grief and only on the narrow bumps.  I will get a pic though just for you ;)

Sorry to jump in on this post, is that your car? same one thats in the middle section of Banzai this month??

Just wondering what bonnet vent youv got?  Iv got a similar Amemiya wide kit on. ah and where you get that red rear toe eye!!  looks class!!!

p.s. i found RE Amemiya copy diffusers on ebay for £150:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MAZDA-RX7-REAR-DIFFUSER-FD3S-TOYOTA-SUPRA_W0QQitemZ320295124267QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320295124267&_trkparms=72%3A985%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Personally cant decide whether to keep the standad bumper on the rear and get one of those diffusers and these spats:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36475&viewitem=&item=260279625072&_trksid=p3907.m29

... or get a different rear bumper altogether???  This is what it looks like at the minute:

Why diffusers though, do yous not think they look a bit stuck on!?? Would a new rear bumper not be better. iv not seen one up close in profile with he bumper, photos are always taken far away on them.

Im 50/50 on either to be honest!

Yep got a couple more photos:

looks very good matey!
got to go the rear diffuser route, like bolt ons as i have c/f front canards, c/f side steps and feel a c/f reamemiya diffuser with bowtech generators would complement the look and complete the flow of c/f along the bottom of the car!

Yeah i think the bomex goes well with the amemiya sides, not seen another one like it really, apart from Initial D\'s, which i wudent mind seein another photo of that rear diffuser.

To add a second Hijack, I was following someone on the London tunnel run, who appeared to have a diffuser (think was a RE-A one, but not sure), and a set of rear skirts fitted.  The skirts *just* tucked inside the outer lip of the diffuser - looked really nice.  Was just wondering which skirts / diffuser it was (got rear skirts blended in on mine, makes picking a diffuser tricky)

cheers :D

I\'ve no diffuser at the moment (if that was aimed at me) - need to fix important things like suspension first :D

They are side lights for the American market, same reason MX-5s have them.

They are not needed in the UK so not wired up, you could probably wire them up (and the fronts) to power and add bulbs.

But why would you want to do that??? they wouldn\'t look so good on that car if it wasn\'t awesome to begin with
Title: Rear Diffuser
Post by: MarkoFu on September 09, 2008, 08:15:36 PM
I just purchased a clear set off of ebay, but they come with bulbs, so just wondering how they were meant to be wired up. I was just going to wire them up as additional indicators; never even thought of them being extra side lights   They look good though :Thumbs-up

They should be side lights but indicators would work.

Have them on as side lights but then flash off when you indicate?
