Just been out for some extra mapping, and pushed past 1 bar for the first time. Fuel cut at 1.1 bar got us confounded for a while, but sussed it in the end.
Gotta get the screamer pipe plumbed back in though: it\'s very asbo. Don\'t enjoy it any longer. Oh, and it doesn\'t help that the boost controller doesn\'t appear to be controlling boost: we hit 1.45bar at one point!! :eek
you need a stiffer wastgate spring if you cant control the higher boost levels
Surely if the spring was too weak, i would get lower boost, rather than higher boost?
It has a 10psi spring at the moment.
On the limit there Nik. My mate blew his rotor seals with a 1.4 boost spike, he was adjusting the limit whilst boosting and the boost controller lost it.
Expensive.
Take care is all I\'m saying. Oh, and I agree with you on the wastegate spring. Is the wastegate moving freely? The same friend of mine had a 2.0bar boost spike after a wastegate failure. He was lucky that time, no damage.
Mine starts to fluctuate at 0.95bar because I\'m running a 0.5bar spring. Due to buy a bigger one. Need a bigger spring :D

turns out to be a poorly adjusted boost controller. Turned it right down now so i can get a 1.0 bar low boost setting, and a 1.3 bar high setting. We have a nice safe map on it, all good.
(I\'ll probably now blow it up at the weekend! :p)

Just out of interest, with all supporting mods (and a wastegate that works) what is the maximum safe boost you can run though a 13B? Im guessing there is a difference if you run 2mm apex seals instead of 3mm, but on a stock 2mm seal can it take 1.3 bar and not decide to lose compression?
We ran 2.3bar on stock 2mm apex seals.

Ofcourse we had lots of fuel, decent mapping, etc, but it just gives you an idea of whats possible on stock seals. And I think its got to be one of the most power 13bs in the world on PETROL.
Thanks :) I always wondered, like I said, with all the supporting mods done, I mean some people try and boost loads, max out their injectors and it goes bang, or doesn\'t have enough cooling (both water and intake charge) which makes it go bang lol what power was it making on what turbo @2.3 bar? Im guessing that its not run at that boost for too long lol
