Title: Servicing myself? Tips
Post by: blanc on August 27, 2008, 12:43:39 PM
Hi All,

I have decided to give servicing the car myself a go.

What ht leads do people recommend?

Car is stock, auto, what plugs do people suggest?

What part number for fuel filter and oil filter?

My local supplier does not have a clue.

Is it difficult job to do?  Any tips or how to on site?  Did try a search

Halfords do oil fillter and oil

HT Leads should be ok unless your getting ignition breakup

Yeah, Clive is very accomodating. He does post parts.

As Ash says, although I would either go 7s leading and 9\'s trailing, or 9\'s all round.

Guys, he\'s asking what parts he needs. Saying "yeah mate, 7\' all round" i bet he\'s thinking WTF? What they mean mate is there are 2 different types of spark plugs in this car. They both look the same but have different part numbes numbers. You will need

2 BUR7EQP
2 BUR9EQP

That is the proper part numbers for the plugs.

From what I\'ve heard, the fuel filter is a b*tch to replace without taking the diff off.

should be easy to do the plug, leads, fluids and oil filter though...

Get yerself an oil drain plug (has a tap on it), then you won\'t even need to mess about with new rubber washers on the drain plug.

I use Castrol 10w40 mineral oil from halfords, and a halfords oil filter, but can\'t remember the part... do a search its on here somewhere.

There\'s more to a service than changing these bits though...

I hear a jar of vaseline and a ladies toy works quite well... alternatively, there are apparently companies who should be able to service you, for a small fee...  :D

*cough*

its been a long day :Typing
