Title: £1000 to spend
Post by: declasm on August 27, 2008, 10:06:10 AM
Ok - theoretically what is the best way to spend £1000 on my FD to get the best increase in  performance? The car is a mostly stock UK FD and the only current performance mod is a 3" exhaust. Other current mods are tein superstreets and some wide wheels - 235x18 f 265x18 r. what would you guys do?

Hmmm - from reading on the boards (not yet personal experience): agreed

programable ECU, uprated air intake, decat (prob that order) + mapping for ECU

maybe save a few quid for fresh oil / filters / sparks / etc too?  maybe also look at replacing suspension bushes, if they weren\'t done with the teins (but this would take you over the 1k mark with the above)

well...if you wanna go faster: Apexi Power FC plus mapping (700) and maybe get a downpipe (80), decat (50) and hi flow filter (50) and a service!

If you want the car to feel nicer - get the bushes and a full alignment done! They will all have ATLEAST 10 years worth of wear on them and the difference it makes is night and day.

Yes as aisd above. Get a decent filter kit
Apex\'i one £90+vat
The Power FC is £550+vat

Decat pipe would be around £100+vat but we don\'t have any at the moment. Get the mid pipe in before the mapping.

Cheers

Makes you wonder doesn\'t it. I\'d just like to add my comment regarding the polybush replacement. I\'ve just had Tein Super Streets and the polybush replacement done front and back and the combination of the two is really good for everyday road comfort and handling then get it tracked at a well known place reccomended on this site.

For a stage 1, ie. breathing and mapping what gains would you expect to get from a type R FD3?

If the car is going to be put on a track then how reliable would the standard cooling system be with a boost hike?

How much bhp / torque can the standard clutch take assuming that it is in good condition?
