quick qu
Was just wondering, what are the widest legal tires you can fit to an fc with no modifications?
cheers

depends on the offset. I\'ve got 17x9 at the back (could easily fit 17x10s) but I\'m running 17x8 at the front but the offset means I need spacers so I have tryes which sit about 6mm proud of the arches
Offset is the crucial bit and also if you have coilovers. I have been looking extensively at wheels and offsets for my widebodied FC. You can go to a 25 offset on 17" with a staggered fit, see Furbs setup as thats a good fit and fills the arches nicely.
I have even looked at 10J for my rears and my offsets will most certainly be 25 or lower.
Its the fronts that are the pain as there is not much room from the rim to strut.
Front ideally an 8J with 35 offset
Rears you have loads of room and ideally a 9.5J on a 30-35 offset but 10J will fit with offset to suit.
Wheels do vary and not always what they say they are but it again depends on rolled arches, flush fit or kept within the arches etc.
Just noticed this, ive got 18x9 on the front and 18x10 on the back, cant remember offsets so will post them up next time they are off
not the speediest of replies, but it will do :D
thanks
Lol, Im bored so decided to go through old threads, lol
haha nice one, still waiting to see your car in action!!
legally, the wheels and tyres cannot come past the widest part of your bodywork iirc so the widest point of your respective wheels arch is the widest you can have it... just adding onto the latecomers
i think if you stretch the tyres you can have wider wheels, aslong as the tread is under the arch.
think thats what i originally wrote tyres instead of wheels too :D
Rears will fit nicely 9.5J with a 25 offset
Fronts will fit a 8.5J with 25-35 offset
No spacers are needed, front tyres will be 225 and rears around 265 but that depends on the profile and diameter.
The above sizes do work and all legal but you can go wider on the rear but offset in all cases is the crucial bit.
Standards are 205-55-16 with a 40 offset so just use the tyre/offset calculator and that will give you an idea of what the different offsets will do.
