Title: Apexi Power FC on Base Map
Post by: SavageUK on August 26, 2008, 09:12:48 AM
Quick question here guys, currently i have the standard 8-bit ECU fitted, ive just bought an Apexi Power FC and Commander for it which im told is on the base map.

Now the eventual idea is to take it to WGT and have it fully mapped, but am i safe to fit it as is? only mods to the car are a RE-Amemiya induction kit and a believe a more free flowing exhuast.

Cheers,

Michael

Yeah, the power FC runs a little rich as standard, so you will be fine to run on those mods.

IMO, you should be safe to fit it (remember to go through the Apexi\'s "self learning" process though) but whatever you do treat it with kid gloves until it\'s been setup by someone who knows what they\'re doing!

Its ok to run as is but dont just leave it as such thinking it will be ok as it drives, you must get it mapped for the mods on your car to make sure its a safe map.

yeah that was the plan, fit it, get the MOT and everything sorted and book it in for a proper map.

cheers all

If you only have a induction kit and backbox exhaust, and you still have the Cat in place, then it will be ok, but i would still recommend you do as they will be able to fine tune it to be a bit better on fuel. Imo i would do whatever you intend to do to the car first, maybe a decat, bigger intercooler, THEN get it mapped. Otherwise your gonna pay for a map now, then you\'ll want more power so you start doing other engine mods and you have to pay again for a map.
